Former officer
A long time arena warrior. Ivy was a high ranking commander who earned her title through a combination of ferocity and pulled strings through old family connections. She brought honor to her house and riches to her providence in her battles with both beastclan and rival dragon factions alike. The reason for her leaving it all behind is a tragic one.
Her former lair was locked in a fierce territory war with a splinter group that was once part of the former domain. Divisions between ruling class citizens and those who worked to provide for them grew to a dangerous boiling point until a riot that ended with six dead broke the proverbial straw. Ivy was part of the task forces who kept the rebels in line when they got too rowdy. For quite awhile she thought nothing of her actions and saw herself as doing something noble for her higher-ups. There were old faces among the crowds that she could swear she recognized but she pushed these distracting thoughts down right away. She had a job to do.
So she did what was required of her. What was expected. She never wanted it to fully escalated but the last uproar did just that and she was forced to defend herself as well as her fellow guards.
Ivy delivered a killing blow and when she came back to the body she was horrified to discover the face of a childhood friend.
Overcome with remorse and shock, she fled to a alley where more bodies lay. Ivy grew more and more sick when she recognized the lifeless eyes. Childhood companions and classmates she once laughed and played with. Ivy had been young when the kingdom split in two but she could still recall a time when so many of these faces were seen as cherished brothers and sisters. Both sides were fighting tooth and nail against those they should be standing for and it left her heart-broken.
Ivy, without a word or warning, left when the dust settled. The realization of everything she had done and seen doing no good for her heavy mind. Everything she had stood for was now meaningless. Her home no longer felt like home.
AzuleHaven gave her a clean slate. Sodansa's readiness to take Ivy in with little regard for her abandonment of her own platoon was too good to pass up. By all accounts she should have been court-marshaled and instead was offered a position as an educator.
It was a big switch with it's own set of challenges. Ivy went from a soldier to the head of the school board. Yes, it's been challenging but it's a very welcome challenge.
