And it is said that a strange man came through town one night and appeared by their bedside, granting them strange wish for the price of innocence and speech. It was an easy enough deal to make, though the way they were granted the ability was not what they expected.

Romanae was given the power to shapeshift. They wear a mask that shifts with them, changing into the mantle of the last creature they changed into. Though they no longer have the ability to speak, their eyes are sharp and hearing keen, making them dangerous even in human form. With no friends and no home, Romanae wanders the world, though they are not unhappy with their lot in life. Along with the gift of shapeshifting came the gift of immortality, and they use it to cause much mischief amongst the human world. After all, they came to find out over time that humans were the most cunning and interesting creatures of all.
Perhaps I should wear it next?
