Biography
Mael, quiet and gentle as her breed are wont to be, was very surprised to find a dragon-who-smells-like-shelter outside her cave. Instinct told her that the big green dragon would never harm her or let any other harm her, and as the long months turn to years that instinct has proven correct time and time again.
Like all Tundras, she can be forgetful and takes some time to get used to newcomers in the slowly-growing lair, but even if she does not fully recognise them she will not allow anything to harm the hatchlings of the clan.
She loves shiny things, which is an issue for the dragons in the clan whose genes include Metallic, Alloy, Facet and Crystal, as they often find their clan's matriarch staring at the reflections from their wings for hours. She collects glittery pebbles and rocks whilst scavenging, and the Cathedral now glimmers with reflected and refracted light, delighting the hatchlings almost as much as Mael herself.
Her most prized possession is a softly-glowing statue of the Arcanist, which sits in pride of place in a little alcove above her sleeping area.
In the second Quarter Quell of the Arcane Hunger Games, Majestas finally betrayed her and attacked her, though she managed to escape. Exiling himself to the old Crystalspine cave, he regained his senses and eventually returned to her side, quieter and more thoughtful than before, but still the dragon who smelled like shelter from the moment she first met him. She loves him more than she can remember, and takes great pride in leading Clan Balmoral with all the grace and wisdom her years and her memory of how things should smell can provide.
