Biography
Caspian, a wanderer from another tribe, came across Clan Balmoral by accident when a magical current twisted him off of his intended flight path and almost straight into the face of a large and very startled Majestas.
He declared himself to be a capricious and restless dragon, not wishing to be tied to one place. And yet the longer he stayed in the little cave on the egde of Arcane lands, the more his wanderlust settled. When the Games called, his place solidified, and finally brought him to the top of the loose hierarchy when Majestas abandoned the clan in shame over his actions in the Quarter Quell.
As Interim Patriarch, he implemented a law that required no dragon in the clan to enter the Arena more than three times, in a desperate attempt to limit the damage to the psyches of the participants. It was this law that may have saved the clan, spreading the burden of the Games across dozens of shoulders so that all of them understood its terror and its pain, and refusing to let those who had suffered enough be forced into battle once more.
With the fall of the Games and the rising of the Cathedral to the endless heights of the Observatory, Caspian took on the role of trainer for the many dragons who came to the gates of Balmoral seeking fame and fortune. Along with Majestas and Mael, and supported by his wise and faithful wife Hirael, Caspian now seeks to lead the clan with honour and integrity, standing firm in the face of the shifting elements of Sornieth, and creating a sanctuary for all who would seek it - and a forbidding fortress for all who would harm those within the walls.
Caspian was the first dragon I ever bought from the Auction House. I bought him because I thought babies with Syr would be gorgeous, but Syr didn't like him much and liked little Belgara much more.
