The clan cook, makes excessively fancy meals for the clan every night. He is usually flustered and worried, and when not focusing on a task he zips around the kitchen cleaning and rearranging. Spends most of his time carefully preparing the most delicious baked goods, then shares them around the clan. Gets disgusted when he sees a clanmate eat completely raw or poorly cooked food. Arc is always pestering him about his unhealthy diet, to which he responds by bribing her silence with a pastry. Chai was born into an ancient clan of the Earthshaker's realm, and was burdened from the moment he hatched with the weight of his clan's past glory. His parents were kind, but the clan as a whole expected him to grow up to be a legendary warrior or extraordinary craftsdragon. But as hard as Chai tried, he was painfully mediocre at all necessary roles. After many years of the clan's dissatisfaction with his abilities, the clan stopped expecting much from him. They were not rude to him for his failure, but didn't try very hard to hide their disappointment. One night, after the clan was asleep, Chai said farewell to his parents and flew south, seeking a clan that would suit him better. While camping on the edge of the Windswept Plateau, he bumped into a kindly old Tundra. This was Marmalade, who inquired the Coatl to tell his tale. Marmalade told Chai of his clan in the Flamecaller's lands, where dragons of all breeds, Flights, and character were welcome to stay. Chai agreed to visit for just a little while, and quickly came to like the Tundra. When they arrived at the lair and Chai was warmly welcomed, he immediately wanted to stay. He had never felt wanted before, and with all these kind and silly dragons wanting to get to know him, he was sold. Now well acquainted with the Soot Snout clan, Chai has become very comfortable as one of the older permanent members of the clan. He discovered his talent for cooking, a trade that would never have been appreciated or accepted in his birth clan. He coordinates with Troye and Mikhail to get the finest ingredients and spices from all the realms. Sometimes he stirs up a massive pot of stew for the entire clan, and its spicy aroma wafts throughout the lair, calling the clan to dinner. He enjoys seeing the entire clan come together to eat good food, play around, and tell stories. Even the dragons that spend all of their time avoiding people and hiding in their caves (like Yoko and Zorua) come out and laugh along with the rest of the clan at Taika's horrible jokes and listen intently to Marmalade's stories. If they're lucky, they can even convince Sirin to sing in her warm, soft, silvery voice. Chai loves seeing the clan come together to enjoy each other's presence, but its also only times like this where Zorua will leave the library and actually socialize. Chai knows that the clan wants to get to know Zorua, but he's so fearful and slow to trust that not much progress has been made. Usually after Zorua has a stressful encounter with another dragon, he goes and hides away in the library until Chai comes, singing softly to calm his partner down (though his singing voice isn't anything special, Zorua loves it).
