Loki was... strange, for a shadow dragon, especially when one took into account his breed heritage. For shadow dragons were masters of disguise and the ultimate pranksters, devious, cunning, but he was a gentle soul in comparison, hovering to and fro when night fell over Aurelia, softly upon warm, coastal breezes. In the darkness his eyes shone bright with curiosity and, in some strange twist of fate, the spiral found himself adoring the bright, royal architecture and the customs of the light denizens more then he ever did his own heritage, that twisted, desolate forest, trading the moon for the blinding sun. If one wishes to find the tattooed spiral they needn't look further than the rooftops, the serpentine dragon slithering quietly through the marble, usually accompanied by Obscura, a pair knitted so close to one another, through trials and tribulations they both had seen and faced back when the darkness enveloped them both. To a brighter future, they would say, looking upon one another with a smile dancing across their features.

The happiness is strained, however, and Loki hisses quietly to himself when he is alone, clutching his head and shivering and looking upon this city that he so loves with disdain, heartbreak. Worms. Snakes. The elements of shadow and light have always had a passionate rivalry that spanned eons, ascended from the deities themselves, through the way the sun and the moon follow one another, constantly rising and falling with the days as they pass. Loki feels no such competition within his blood, the idea abhorrent to him, and yet because of his purple eyes he hears them in the dead of night where no light dragon dares to wake, hushed, violent whispers dripping with ferocity and acid, accompanied by sly smiles and bared fangs. Plans to destroy, take over, kill. Schemes brewed in the gloom so foul even the night could not hope to be so dark. He refuses to join them when he sees they gather, and he, along with Obscura, dance away into the night, elsewhere, upon roofs where they could be alone. Betrayal, he knew, would end this city, if he did not do something soon.

And he tries, truly, he does, but when he speaks to the guardian they all revered, he would be close by, standing in complete silence as all noise dare not speak in his presence. That disgusting smirk upon his features let Loki know exactly what he was thinking, what he was planning to do, and the spiral would profusely apologise and back out of his conversation, asking for forgiveness in wasting Rhaegal's time. When words failed him the tattooed dragon would leave shreds of snake skin outside of the grand hall where he knew their leader resided, imprints of scales that were dyed a deep purple, shimmering under the light like a sickly, malnourished bruise. Such a warning was not heeded and he, through all his love and devotion, keeps trying. They needed to know, before claws rendered flesh, before teeth clamped around necks, before this wonderful, wonderful city was stained in red and ruin. He knows, and yet, if it is the last thing Loki ever does, he will make sure Rhaegal knows as well.
