B I O G R A P H Y

She was born into the heat of the Ashfall Wastes and raised in the ever changing landscape of the Molten Scar. Brought up into a life of salvaging the Scars ever changing bounties as well as scraping the remains of the lairs unfortunate enough to be caught in its turmoils, she came to enjoy the challenge. The Scar was known for its ever shifting expanse and for the rich bounty that those shifts could unearth. To collect those treasures meant to risk the dangers of a quaking earth and the explosive heat of the molten rock that flowed freely there. Even at a young age she found herself bounding home with armfuls of red-hot ore or detailing stories of both lucky and unlucky scavengers that she’d witnessed while out exploring.

It wasn’t all about finding the materials though. Her clan at the time was made mainly of metal forgers and scrappers. Taking in the raw ore and crafting it into all manner of things. If not actual ‘useful’ materials then components that could be sold out so others could shape them as they saw fit. When she was old enough she eventually learned how to shape those armfulls of ore into basic components. Still, she preferred the act of gathering more than crafting and so she found herself out battling the terrain much more often than she found herself shaping pieces of it.

Things didn’t stay that simple for long however. A dragon she would only ever know as ‘Uncle’ had been trying (and failing) to buy out the clans space/shop in an attempt to expand his ‘business’. After one too many refusals he took it upon himself to drop any pretense of diplomacy and took the clan by force. Well, not him specifically. He wasn’t ever really known to get his own claws dirty. Preferring instead to let his hired ‘help’ do it for him.

It was her luck that had her absent for the majority of the slaughter. Too excited by the days haul to notice the signs, she barreled into the clans space only to drop whatever ore she had held. It sizzled in blood as she scrambled into hiding. The battles that still raged were few and her once small clan was clearly on the losing side. There was still little leeway for a terrified Alexia to do anything but watch. From her hiding spot she saw her remaining clan mates fall and eventually she watched as the clans leader was dragged into blood soaked hall and offered to an eagerly awaiting Uncle. With one last offer to hand the territory over ‘peacefully’ the ordeal was over. After refusing Uncle’s offer, Alexia watched on in horror as her once proud mentor was tossed into the very same scrapping equipment he’d taught her how to use.

To terrified to move and with the hall still bustling with Uncle’s “help” it wasn’t long until she was found. Extracted from her hidey hole a shivering mess, she found herself facing down the same dragon she’d just watch proudly gawk at the death of her clan. He knew who she was though. He’d been around enough with his offers and his evaluations to have seen her work the forges and other various equipment. He’d seen her bring back ore and trinkets. He knew she’d be useful and with how tongue seemed caught in her teeth she didn’t dare refuse.

Adopted into Uncle’s new ‘business’ she found herself surrounded by Uncle’s workers. She found them different then his hired help however. While it became her job to man most of the ACTUAL business equipment so that Uncle could use it as a front for his nefarious dealings, she also found herself training others from his clan. Be it training them in how to work the forges and scrappers or how and where to find the riches that the Scar provided. She found herself less and less threatened by her new clan as the time passed. Uncle however remained a subject of terror in her mind. To many it was the only explanation of why he had so much power over her.

OLD LORE BELOW
I'm currently In the process of converting/re-writing this into the above template. Keeping it here for now since I'm not done yet.

Note: The below is no longer entirely accurate. The whole "connections" idea is going to be dropped, as are some points of her past. However, the general jist isn't going to change too terribly much. Progression is going to stay the same, etc. Just gonna tone down the edge a bit.

Bloody Scraper

Scrap Heap
She grew up in The Ashfall Waste with her parents (by blood or by adoption is uncertain to her). They worked in a generation run workshop of their clans own design and crafted old broken metal into usable scrap. Clans from all over the wastes would buy from them as the need for good workable metal was always present.

Bad Business
The success of her parents metal workshop caught the eyes of a dragon she only really knew as her 'uncle'. His actual relation to her parents is lost to her faded memory. She does remember that he wasn't a particularly good worker however. A slacker who made most of his treasure through more underhanded means, he wasn't the most popular guest at the workshop. For whatever reason though, he seemed to be coming around more often. More threatening with each encounter it became clear that he was after the workshops success. A metal shop that was popular among most facets of the Wastes due to it's scraping potential would be the perfect outfit for a shady side business. Her parents were steadfast in their disinterest in making deals with her uncle however.

New Management
Her parent's constant disagreements with Uncle eventually ended but in a way much more gruesome then she thought possible at the time. To anyone on the outside it probably wouldn't have been to shocking but to the young Alexia it was life changing. She had been present in the workshop when it happened. She had recently learned how to run the workshop so she was in the back, practicing what she thought would be her new job. So she saw when Uncle came in with his gang. She saw when her parent's refused his offer again and she watched the anger build on Uncle's face. She watched, silenced by fear and uncertainty, as they bickered and then briefly struggled against each other. Her eyes didn't even leave the scene as she watched one of the goons grab her mother and force her into one of the machines that crushed down larger scrap. Still unable to move, she witnessed Uncle banter on while his goons held her father down. She doesn't know what he said. She lost the ability to hear when the fight started, her heartbeat the only sound she can remember hearing. Her father joined her mother in the machine.

A slave to business
It wasn't long after the gruesome death of her caretakers that she was noticed. Uncle had left his goons to clean up and he had started to inspect the workshop. For him it was an lucky find. A terrified child who knew how to work the equipment? It was almost like he had been blessed. Alexia wasn't about to try to fight this man or his goons out of the workshop after that. Fear all she understood and all she can remember from that time, she didn't hesitate to follow Uncle's demands. Essentially a slave to the man, she worked the shop while he continued to be the dragon he had always been. She imagined he would have had to pay someone to work in the workshop for him and conduct all that business while he just used the place to funnel his illicit dealings and used the shop as a front but now he didn't have to pay anyone anything. He had his worker and he had his front. She had her life.

Bloody Scraper
Tormented by the dragon that ruled her life and by the goons and customers that came with his profession she lost much more than innocence in the years she toiled away under Uncle. Her emotions and mind warped themselves to adapt and her body grew both in size and in resilience. She became another product he dealt as the time passed. Be it missions he didn't want to do himself or for whatever else his clients were willing to pay for. She wasn't unaccustomed to torture on occasion or even more nefarious things. As she grew older and stronger most illicit advances were easy enough for her to deal with personally, however. While she was a slave to Uncle she owed his customers and lackeys nothing in her mind. Strengthened by the years of working in the workshop by herself (for the most part) and by missions she was forced on she grew into a powerful beast. A beast who one day realized something life changing. Uncle was in the midst of a heated rant, venting about something she cared little for. He had chosen to take out his anger on her (as was the norm generally) and while the pain he caused was nearly mute to her hardened form a thought crossed her mind. Why couldn't she do anything about this? Her eyes widened as she realized that she very much could do something. Young her was scared and couldn't fight back... but she wasn't young anymore. She was a massive imp that towered over Uncle and many of his goons now. She was strong enough from not only her work in the shop but from the constant danger she had been put in from the moment he had 'adopted' her. Fighting off his goons and customers... doing his missions... she was stronger, bigger, and much more capable then he had ever been. The realization hit her hard and the anger that followed was harsher than any flame in the wastes. His body was found stuffed into the same machine he had once used to dispose of her parents all those years ago.

Blood Stained Merchant

New Connections
If Uncle did one thing right by her it was that she now had several connections thanks to his illicit dealings. As far as she was concerned she was now the owner of the workshop again but she cared little for the scrap yard or its machines. Long had the success of the shop diminished. With only her, a new trainee at the time, working the shop and Uncle working everything else it's popularity dwindled. She wouldn't have stayed there even if it was still the most lucrative scrap heap on the map. All she knew was metal work and the skills she had learned from doing Uncles job for him. So she left the scrap yard. She left it in the hands of one of the customers that she saw to be more trustworthy. Not everyone who needed underhand deals was always a terrible no-gooder after all. She had seen many come and go while under Uncle, some worse than Uncle and some who just needed something done but had no other way. She found one she liked and gave them a gift of a workshop with an unpleasant surprise clogged into one of the machines. She had taken Uncle's place and she would do his job a lot better than he had.

Ruthless Dealings
She had learned the basics long ago as she watched Uncle bumble his way through the underworld. As she got older she often watched and found herself thinking of better ways to handle his business. He was always a slacker and would rarely do things himself. It was easy to swindle him into something because of his ego and she despised herself for letting such a weak (body and mind) dragon control her life for so long. She took her anger and frustrations out in her work. At first it was mostly mercenary work she did. Hunting down individuals and taking them out was sure fire way to release those emotions.

Next Level Marketing
Empathy and sympathy were lost on her and reading other dragons had become something she had taught herself many years ago. It was a useful skill and she found that most of the time those emotions got in the way of good dealings. It wasn't long into her career that she learned of the underground dealings of bodies. Customers would sometimes pay high price for a quarry to be killed and their body delivered intact back to them. It wasn't uncommon to hear about dragons paying for Pearlcatcher Pearls or Ridgeback horns or any other species specific trinkets but she learned of another interesting market. Dragon meat. It seemed somewhat obvious but at the same time taboo. It didn't matter either way. She killed for a living why not make an extra treasure or two dumping the bodies into willing claws. It meant that not as much anger could be taken out on her prey but there were other ways to deal with emotions. Her business grew from their and she started to make a name for herself as a sell sword and as a merchant.

Back on Top
The success of her new dealings was familiar. She was stronger now and no one would ever be able to take it away from her again. That being said, she had no interest in staying in the Wastes much longer than she had. Her parent's legacy tarnished and her body scared from it's occupancy she had little love for the great volcano or most of it's occupancy. Once her name was made she checked on her old workshop, collected the little she had left from it, and left.

Shady Business
The most obvious place to go was to the Tangled Wood. Trickery and pranks were one thing but in a place of so many tricksters and brambles there was a place for merchants such as herself. She traveled the woods for a while, continuing her business as she went and spreading the news of her presence.

Connection
She had been in the wood a short while when, on a mission, she came across an interesting scene. Even in the shadowy wood it wasn't hard to tell when there was a commotion. The shrill sounds of screeching and fighting filtered through the trees to her. Normally, it wouldn't bother her to much but something in the sound sparked a feeling inside her. Whilst she normally didn't form bonds with anyone else and her emotions tilted more towards uncaring there were odd cases of her forming a connection. Sometimes it would be something as simple as eye contact that would spark the reaction within her and sometimes it would take more. These connections could be fickle, coming and going as quickly as they showed up or they could persist until suddenly she found them boring and unworthy of her time. Occasionally, they would continue to last. No matter what type of connection, the noises sparked something in her and her mission was put to the wayside. Following the commotions she came upon a scene of a Mirror fighting what seemed to have been a group of Wendigo. One of those creatures was bad enough but a group? Clearly this Mirror wasn't in good shape but more striking was the massive Guardian dragon laying behind her. His body was surrounded by the corpses of the other Wendigo attackers but he had been downed at some point leaving the Mirror to fend for herself. It was a safe bet that the Mirror was the Guardians charge if he had been willing to fight several of the creatures for her but as Alexia watched the Mirror struggle against the remaining beast whatever connection this dragon would produce Alexia found it in her best interest to intervene. Launching from her watching point she aided the Mirror in the takedown of the remaining beasts.

The Shadowhide Clan
Whatever it was about this Mirror, she had sparked the connection. Alexia enjoyed her presence. The Mirror (Marrow) believing she owed her for her help and the Guardian (Ekith) ever grateful for protecting his charge offered her a place in their clan. With the connection formed and the offer standing Alexia eventually agreed. It was better than constantly traveling and it would give her a stable base of operations. The shadow clan not phased at all by her chosen profession even offered something else for her to use. They offered assistance. Several members of the clan were natural information gatherers and some were fighters. It was a goldmine for both the merchant and mercenary side of her business. After getting set up in the clan with Marrow's Special Treatment (see above right column) her name became even more well known. The network of informants the clan provided and the occasional connection she felt towards a dragon or two that resided in the clan provided a much more stable outfit for her. It's no secret that she's very much happy to be there.

Familiar: Chirp (Agol)

Original Lore:
She started life as an RP character that never got used. Her dragon lore isn't really all that finished but her original lore is pretty solid. So as both a reference for myself and maybe even art if it'll help. Here is her original lore

Likes to be Fancy:
Look at that lace. Probably not battle ready. But heck yeah for being fancy.

Accent - Bone Armor Imp F
It isn't something she usually wears. It tends to be reserved for important missions or as an intimidation tactic with particularly unwieldy clients

Accent - Oxyacetylene Flames
I enjoy the way the it looks on her mane and fluff. Thanks to it I like to imagine most of her breath fire/fire magic is a tinge more blue then the standard orange/red. Because why not. In terms of art/reference I don't like the wing parts, just the fluff - also I like the idea that she keeps her normal coloration with maybe the occasional blue bit of mane or fluff. I don't really think it would be actual fire like the accent itself suggests but more just that same color. Like the fire magic in her occasionally burns hot enough to light it up.

Armlet:
The teardrop pearl armlet is there to represent a trinket Ataron gave to her when they first met. It was originally a necklace with two finger bones attached to it. (Specifically a human bone and a Ridgeback bone). She retrofitted the bones to a sturdier material and made it into a bracelet she now wears.

Demeanor:
She can be extremely charismatic if she's interested in the person or situation. If she's not interested then she'll generally come off as bored. She has a generally formal approach to things business related but she does do things mainly for her own amusement. This can lead to her playing mind games or word games with whomever she's dealing with. She has the habit of withholding information but at the same time being very blunt. This plays into her 'mysterious' image because it's never quite clear if she's told the whole story. Dragons she trusts or has a connection with have little to worry about concerning that however. She'll willingly tell all to those dragons if they press her.

Job Duties:
She sells trinkets and general materials/goods as a general job/front. If a customer approaches with a more secretive desire or task she is usually more than willing. Using her connections in the clan she can gather information and has a team of well trained fighters for other purposes. She usually does dangerous missions on her own or as the leader but there have been cases where she'll put the leadership role into another dragons hands. She can be commissioned for mercenary work, spying/information gathering, item/body retrieval, and assassinations.

Special Treatment:
Because of Marrow's favor she is allowed a special den/living area. It acts as any other clan members den would except it is also attached to a series of private caves that she uses to conduct her business. Beyond that there are several branch offs that lead to her various workshops and storage spaces. There is a separate entrance hidden within these caverns for transporting 'goods' and meeting with clients.

Cosmos
The above talk of the Oxyacetylene Flames accent also gave me another bit of inspiration. I always liked the idea of her having a 'space belly'. Her origins as an OC of mine that dealt in space was the original cause for this. That being said there was never really anything more than "white speckles on black underbelly is like stars and space". The accent and the above idea that her fire magic burns hot enough to light up her mane gave me the idea that when she's casting/breathing specific types of her fire magic, it would light up her chest area/neck/wherever the fire originates in the dragons systems. This would cause, in the brief moments before expelling her magic the look of a bluish glow underneath the obsidian sheen of her belly - giving off a somewhat noticeable if not brief 'galaxy' vibe.
(Something like this but far more faded - It wouldn't cause a neon effect since the blue is under the obsidian)
