patron of steam | quick-thinking, firm, observant

Salmis' life began on the shores of the Ashfall Waste, where the seas tore into the magma-carved rocks of the land he would soon call home. In that age, the Flamecaller was one of the most greedy in claiming the beings that had risen from her power: while other gods saw them as inconsequential or perhaps even a threat, Salmis was a treasure to be nourished into something great. Salmis knew only the walls of the Furnace and the brightness of the god he considered his mother. Early on he established himself as a staple of the Flamecaller's work: his essence of steam made him clever, immaterial, and a constant presence among her creations. Even as dragonkind grew to be Sornieth's dominant race, Salmis cherished his position so close to the Flamecaller's ear. His particular domestication has made him civil and present to mortals, particularly those worthy of prestige among the forges. His companionship with the Icewarden's exiled ward has been an on-again, off-again feature for a century, though one might think Salmis uses him as a surrogate for a chainless life, and Kwarc in turn seeks only the knowledge of immortality Salmis contains.
