Gwinvere is the master at connections. You need something, she'll know how to get it. She has a vast network of contacts and knows how to get results. Gwinvere keeps tabs on the whispers of information that float on the winds, is up to date on rumors and knows how to spread rumors like wildfires. While physical confrontations and ruthless force are not her area of expertise, she is skilled at mentally manipulating and bending others to her will at whatever she deems is necessary. Gwinvere finds it highly amusing to seduce others and will often do so when she's bored. While she usually stays in Clan Lodzhal, she's not against infiltrating other clans or groups to get whatever item or information that she needs. While she doesn't wear armor like most of the other shadeborn, Gwinvere is a highly skilled shadeborn who shouldn't be taken lightly when angered. Gwinvere is very, very fond of wearing fine silks Gwinvere and her sister, Vonda ran into Durzo in the depths of the Hewn City what seemed like ages ago. They had been the only ones who had survived from their nest of five. The shade had managed to take over the nest from their parents, killed one hatchling and turned the other two into puppets. Gwinvere and Vonda survived. Instead of being controlled by the shade, they managed to control it although the struggle to remain in control remained, no matter how little it was. Shunned by society, the two sisters played and grew up in the depths of the Hewn City, the shade almost acted as their babysitters in that it protected them from harm because most sane creatures would run away at the slightest hint of shade activity. Gwinvere poked and prodded at the shade, both from within and outside of her, learning to control and manipulate what others would call a curse and then teaching what she had figured out to her little sister. When they ran into Durzo, the guardian sisters decided to follow the skydancer around. He was, after all, one of them, a shadeborn. Together, they traveled and continued to master their abilities until one day they were accepted into Clan Lodzhal by a leader who didn't care that they were shadeborn. To Lorian, the trio were dragons looking for a home that meant no harm to those around them. Those days were rather happy. Sure the dragons of the clan were vaguely suspicious about them at first, but that was how the clan was towards any newcomer. In that time of peace, Gwinvere and Durzo became mates. Some claim that Durzo's first hatchlings were with Vonda, but that was only because she used to keep an eye on the nest when the other two shadeborn were occupied. Vonda was devoted to keeping the nest safe from harm, wanting to keep the shade away from it even though their parents had failed, never mind the fact that Clan Lodzhal was fully protected from the shade by the trio's efforts. Vonda was horrified when the nest hatched. The three hatchlings were all shadeborn even though the shade hadn't taken over the nest. Believing that Gwinvere, Durzo and her were cursed and would never have a 'normal' life, Vonda fled to Lightweaver, hoping that the Lady of Light would be able to purge the shade from her body or at least let her use her abilities to keep Her domain safe. Gwinvere, feeling the pains of losing her little sister so quickly, remained in Clan Lodzhal and did her best to hide how much it effected her. She was, after all, happy with Durzo. The two worked together to raise their hatchlings and even nested together several more times. Durzo and Gwinvere worked together to raise their hatchlings with love and understanding. They protected both the clan and the ten offspring with the utmost care and trained the young shadeborn how to use their abilities. If anything, Durzo and Gwinvere were overjoyed that even though their offspring were shadeborn, none had been killed or taken control of by the shade. That all quickly changed due to one field trip outside of Clan Lodzhal's territory. The ten offspring, led by the eldest, Azoth and his twin, Kylar, went exploring outside of the clan's territory. They, unlike their parents, hadn't ever dealt with the hostilities of other dragons, let alone beastclans, due to their abilities. To the outsiders, the ten dragons were a gathering of shade controlled puppets that were on the move, ready to kill and destroy all in their path. The peaceful group suddenly found themselves under attack. Azoth, convinced that they shouldn't kill the other dragons, directed his siblings to focus on protecting themselves. He knew that killing their attackers would only make the gathering even more angry and come after them with a renewed vigor. Azoth and Kylar found themselves between the attacking group and their siblings as their sister, Uly focused her shade ability on making a flare to get the attention of Durzo and Gwinvere. The guardian twins wove a defensive wall around their much younger siblings, praying to Lightweaver that help would come soon. Gwinvere was the first parent who arrived on the scene. Knowing that her offspring would have to go between the group of fully alert, trained-to-destroy-shade-puppet dragons in order to get back to Clan Lodzhal and perhaps bring war upon their beloved home, she made a quick, but painful decision. She had to protect her offspring and hope Vonda would keep them safe. She gained the attention of the group, purposefully aggravating them so that they might forget about her young and give them a chance to escape. In the middle of her angry yelling, she gave Uly the code, the one that signaled for her young to cloak themselves fully in the shade, dart from shadow to shadow, and get to Lightweaver. Ask for Vonda. Gwinvere knew that she had to keep the attention of the attacking group off of her hatchlings that way they didn't notice what they had done and she didn't doubt for one moment that there would be at least one dragon that would be able to detect them, even when fully hidden among the shadows, especially since not all of the group had reached adulthood yet. Durzo found her, laying on the forest floor, covered with blood. Some of it was hers, some was that of the attackers that had long since dispersed. He had been scouting the area around Lightweaver's home and so Durzo had made sure that their offspring had made it safely to Lightweaver who had welcomed them with open arms and understanding eyes. He lay next to her, gently lifting her so that he could cradle her into his arms as her blood poured onto his ebony armor. She worried about their offspring, knowing at least half of the attackers had gone after them, but he quickly alleviated her of her fears, telling her about how he tricked the group into going into the Hewn City where he would find what they deserved. Gwinvere grew weak and she knew she wouldn't be able to last for much longer. She wouldn't be able to last long enough for a healer to get to them. She could feel the shade within growing restless. The crystallized shade resting on her scales were liquidizing and flowing back into her body. She feared that the shade would take over, but more than anything, she didn't want to leave Durzo alone. He leaned in, whispering that everything would be alright, even as his bright yellow eyes teared up and his voice wavered, Lightweaver was coming for her and would make everything alright. He told her how much she meant to him and wished her a safe journey. She wasn't dying, he told her, she was just preparing for her next adventure. Durzo held her close as the tears poured out of his eyes. He let out a loud, piercing wail when she passed away. He screamed at Lightweaver to have mercy long after his throat grew sore and hoarse. He didn't care if he gained the attention of others. If they wanted to kill him, then that would be fine. Maybe he'd be with the love of his life again. When the healer arrived, he glared at the mage, telling them to leave the two of them alone. Durzo made it seem as if Gwinvere was still alive and the moment the healer left, her body stirred. To his clouded vision, she seemed alive and well. Her wounds closed, but there was something wrong. So very wrong. Her eyes opened and stared straight at him, but instead of yellow eyes, they were a piercing black. After her whole life of fighting the shade, the shade had won. Steeling his decision, Durzo destroyed the puppet before she could stand. From there, he dug her a grave and sealed it up, making sure that the shade would never take over her remains ever again as her scales faded from a pitch black to a gray. It would be his secret. When Durzo returned to Clan Lodzhal, he hinted that they were with Lightweaver and from that point, refused to even acknowledge the topic ever since. Gwinvere found herself as a hatchling in a Light Clan. The familiar feel of the shade was with her, but the hold it had over her was much weaker. Instead of fins, she had feathers. It was to her startling amazement that she was a skydancer like her beloved Durzo. In the dead of night, armed with her memories and shadeborn abilities, she snuck off in the direction of Clan Lodzhal. Lightweaver had given them the opportunity to be together again and so she wasn't about to lose any time.
