Vladimir was happy in his swamp.

He was a proud Ridgeback with wings blacker than the darkest night,
and a name to match the cruelty in his heart.

Then Baldwin began to dump his failed experiments into the murky waters,
turning Vladimir's favourite food toxic.
As he ate his dinner unaware of this fact,
his beautiful form began to mutate.

Gone were his dark colours that he had taken such pride in.

Gone was his love for fish-
he never wanted to eat another of the awful creatures.
He would stick to plants and meat now, thank you very much.

These changes bothered him, that was true,
but there was one change that had come upon him that was not hated,
so much as feared.

Gone was his hatred of water.

Vladimir was afraid of what he had become,
but even more afraid of what could continue to happen
if he stayed in his swamp any longer.

He took on a new name so that none would recognise him for what he was,
and set out to find a new home.

Unbeknownst to either, he has ended up living in the same valley as his daughter Sunny.
