____The role of bookkeeper and historiographer has been a contentious one in the clan; whoever records the lore and history of the clan has a direct hand in shaping its future.

____The first lore-keeper was a feeble Pearlcatcher who painstakingly recorded the history of the clan in the glossy layers of her pearl. She was lured to her demise by one of Vesper's children who claimed the title through force. However, violent delights have violent ends and the usurper was ousted in a bloody coup by Bonefira, whose ferocity and will was indomitable.

____The Ridgeback had the original historiographer's pearl broken down into a series of ornate pearl jewelry that she wears at all times, jealously guarding the shimmering memories housed within.
