Never an unfriendly dragon, Ziora generally prefers to keep to herself, giving kindness and soft-spoken words when spoken to, but usually not seeking out others for conversation or friendship. It was perhaps this gentleness that drew her mate, Gavilon, to her. Much louder, rambunctious, and all around outgoing than she is, the young-at-the-time Gav liked the way that they balanced each other out, as did she. So while he has mellowed a bit with age, she has found herself becoming more engaged with other dragons.
Ziora has never felt much of a draw to the land of her birth; her interest has laid more with magic than it has with technology, despite the fact that she was not born with any sort of obvious magic abilities. She only recently began to study magic, though, after a rather jarring incident. While curiously looking over a tome that had been brought back to the clan during an exploring expedition in the Sunbeam Ruins, she found a rather interesting looking incantation. The language unknown to her, and having learned as a young drake that sounding out foreign words while reading was quite helpful, she slowly read out the few lines before her.
As the last word left her mouth, she was suddenly overcome with an intense burning feeling all over her body, inside and out, causing her to double over in pain. Unable to find her voice to call for help, she lay there for what felt like hours, writhing in searing agony, until finally it stopped as quickly as it had started. While the pain was gone, Ziora could feel something foreign practically bubbling under her skin, and as she checked herself over to ensure that she was still in one piece, she was shocked to find long lines of runes etched into her scales, still faintly glowing.
Since then, she has slowly discovered that the newfound feeling inside of her was magic, and that the runes seemed to glow whenever she attempted to use it. Figuring out how to control and harness her perplexing new abilities has been a challenge, but fortunately the library of sorts that calls Bristlecone its home houses many books on all sorts of magicks that can be found in Sornieth. She has taken to voraciously reading over all of this helpful knowledge, though she is now very careful not to read aloud anything that she's not certain as to what it means.
