Biography

Persephone
Caretaker of the Nesting Grounds

Her first memories? Well, she doesn't really speak of where she is from. She doesn't speak much at all, in fact. Persephone is not mute. Not picky. Nor stuck-up. Instead, her silence comes from her culture. She was raised to think before she spoke, therefore, it isn't uncommon for her answer to come days later. Her mate, Hades, finds this charming. He found it charming when they first met. Persephone was born a princess, a dragon that was destined for great things. Her mate, a prince of a rival clan, had been decided on and the clan got ready for the ceremony to bond the two together. To bring peace. Persephone was not excited, but realized it was her duty to her clan. While she was out strolling through the gardens of flowers kept within a glass dome carefully crafted as a present for her before her birth, she met Hades. The Plague dragon was trespassing, but not for harm. His Plague Sprite had run away from him, killing the flowers in the dome with disease. Persephone, disgusted by such acts, froze the hurt flowers in time with her powers and chided Hades with her firm voice. Persephone was not a quiet dragon when she had something to say. She has always been rather forceful. Something else Hades had commented on while they talked within the dome night after night. Persephone began to question her future.
To marry a prince whom she did not love? Or to run away with Hades, a friend? He was going to leave, she knew. It was a miracle he had not been discovered yet. As the day of the ceremony drew nearer, Persephone asked Hades where he would go. He responded with a shrug. It was difficult to get information out of him, something even Persephone had to admire. The two thought carefully about decisions. They planned. They were crafty. A perfect match it seemed, but Persephone went through with the ceremony with the prince, and brought peace between the clans. She stayed silent while her 'mate' did the work he wanted, slowly trying to bring the clans to an agreement. Both of them wanted nothing more than to avoid each other, and the prince's clan responded better to him than they did to her. Persephone was happy with that, as it gave her an excuse to spend all her time with her own clan, but thoughts of her friend stayed with her. Where was Hades now? Was he safe? Happy? Perhaps he had found a home? Desperate for someone to talk to, someone that she could have deep conversations with, Persephone wrote a letter and sent it out. Hoping her messenger would find him.

A reply came a year later. Hades had found a clan in the land of Arcane and invited Persephone to join him. Quickly, Persephone broke off her relationship with the prince--much to his satisfaction as well as hers--and she said goodbye to her family. Her journey was easy enough, as guards helped her arrive to the clan before leaving her once Hades approached. The two quickly took up the same job of protecting and caring for the nesting ground, Persephone's vast knowledge helping with the care of the land. It was after they had been working together for several months that they decided to become mates. Many of the clan had to learn how their relationship came through asking, as the two act more like close friends than anything else. The clan members soon learned though, and left the pair to their jobs. Persephone's laughs and chuckles can be heard from the nesting grounds as she and Hades discuss various topics. Sometimes the topics are highly philosophical, other times they are simple enough for anyone to join them. Most do not interrupt them, however. Persephone's upbringing makes her seem unapproachable, especially with how she decorates her hide with flowers frozen in time and gold and silks. While some may see her as unapproachable, this is false, as Persephone is an open dragon. She just takes a while to give others proper answers on questions. Mostly because she takes her time to make sure she is answering it fully. She is thankful Hades has become used to this, and is patient with her.
