Biography
◊ W E S L E Y ◊ "the 'wes' portion of the name refers to the Western cardinal direction, while the word 'lea' refers to a field, pasture, or other clearing in a forest. thus, the name's origin refers to a 'western lea,' or a field to the west" ____ CLAN ROLE: thief ____ OTHER NOTES: significance of dragon, gene plans, apparel plans, etc |
◊ SELF-SERVING ◊ MORALLY AMBIGUOUS ◊ INSCRUTABLE ◊ he/his | gay | neutral evil __________________________________________________ Patience. If there was one quality that a thief absolutely needed to have, it was patience. And oh, Wesley had been patient -- he’d worked as a guard for royal families in the Hewn City for years, only ever stealing bits and bobs that wouldn’t be missed, honing his skills. He kept his second face hidden from view, never showed his teeth to the ones who thought him an ally. Climbing the ladder had taken what felt like an infinite amount of false smiles and reassurances. They’d rolled off his tongue easily, the sweet nothings that instilled trust between himself and his patrons, the ones he had sworn to protect. He let them believe he would never betray them. He let them believe a lot of things. When he was entrusted to guard the Lightweaver’s most precious of artifacts with his twin brother -- aged tablets with powerful spells that could rip the very fabric of time -- he smiled only to himself, for he knew that his time had come. In the dead of night, he took the tablets and sought refuge in the Wood -- surely, a Shadow dragon would pay him handsomely for the knowledge he had taken. But word reached the Lightweaver too quickly. When he saw the soldiers coming after him, he ran. Brambled thorns scratching his scales, tripping over rotting logs. He crossed over Dorsia’s territory line without knowing -- looking back, he recognizes it as the Shadowbinder’s Will. He met with Cecil and the clan’s witches and offered them the tablets in exchange for sanctuary. They granted him amnesty on the condition they could return the tablets to the Lightweaver (but not before covertly copying down the spells for themselves, of course.) The Lightweaver agreed to these terms -- but Wesley was branded as a traitor and would be treated as such should he ever return to the land of the Light. If Wesley were to ever show his face in the Sunbeam Ruins again, he’d be killed upon sight. Wesley doesn’t regret his decision, only that he wasn’t able to sell the tablets before being found out. Even so, life in the Dorsia clan isn’t so bad -- since arriving, he’s developed a small crush on Wispwillow (though he has yet to tell her) and keeps himself entertained by pickpocketing passerbys just outside the Clan’s territory. Sometimes he thinks of the brother he betrayed and wonders if he’ll ever be forgiven. He supposes he’ll never know. |
