One of the Six founding members of the Clan and member of the Guard

she is a blessing to this mess of a clan.

when she became a Skydancer she took up the sword.
her least favorite thing is Izar and Ketu's entire family, however, many dragons in the clan are somehow related so they are often visited by unwanted relatives.
really likes Iolite, for some reason.
the clan name "Soot Snout" was a joke from when Arc was learning to breathe fire. being from the Fire flight, her ability was far greater than her friend's, and at one point she blew such a powerful spark it exploded in her face and gave her a nose covered in soot, and the eternal nickname of soot snout.

The clan mom, and pretty much the only reason the clan can stay together. She cares deeply for everyone, and would risk anything to save one of her clanmates without a second thought. She is kind and supportive, and is always there for Beetle when she's feeling overwhelmed. Always cares for the hatchlings with Marmalade, and comforts a certain icy Nocturne when he's feeling down. She is often called the "guardian angel of the clan," which she usually just laughs off, but she actually appreciates the compliment very much. Also has a certain weakness towards Chai's eclairs.

Arcturus is one of the five founders of the clan, and joined voluntarily after her parents joined the ranks of the Flamecaller. She soon took up the role of caring for the lost hatchlings that stumbled upon the lair entrance. At the time, Arc was still a hatchling herself, and probably took on a greater responsibility than she could handle (Peri alone was more than she could handle). Fortunately for her, Marmalade joined the growing clan only a little after her, and helped her manage all the hatchlings that were showing up seemingly from nowhere. The two became the structure around which the clan was built, with Beetle going to them to ask for advice, Marmalade teaching hatchlings how to hunt, or everyone going to Arc for comfort and support. She worked hard to make everyone feel welcomed, and would always stay up late making sure everyone was comfortable and well fed. However, Arc never addressed her own turmoil, though Marmalade could clearly see through her constant work as a way to distract herself from her own thoughts. Whenever he would approach her about it, she always had difficulty communicating her emotions and could never find the right words.

Despite everything she did for the clan, there were dragons who would never recover from their pasts, and Arc struggled to accept that she wasn't able to help them. She blamed herself for being unable to help, or only realizing a clanmate needed help once it was too late. She took a particularly hard blow after a dear friend, Cavador, a quiet little Fae, challenged a vicious beast against which he knew he had no chance of defeating. Arc blamed herself for his sudden death, but refused to let her guilt get in the way of helping her clan. She began looking for ways she could know who needed help, as many dragons keep their struggle to themselves. One night she was approached by the witch and clan healer, Izar, who sensed her unrest. Izar revealed to her the abilities of a Skydancer's gem, and offered to try to find a way to give Arcturus the same capabilities. Arc knew that the only way would be to become a Skydancer, but she was willing to take any risk for her clan.

The clan is now much larger than it was during Arc's Imperial days, but she is skillfully aware of all her clanmates' emotional states and is able to give consolation before any problem becomes too large. She is able to understand what a clanmate means even when they can't put it into words, and has become much better at conveying her own thoughts as well. In addition, she is now small enough as to not frighten or intimidate those who she is trying to help. She is in every way a Skydancer, she even invited the Pearlcatcher Mikhail into the clan. And although she dearly loves all of her clanmates, she is especially close to Peri, though not even Marmalade can understand why.

She cares about Peri way more than he deserves.
