Biography

Khatorl
with sparks in her soul

Khatorl has the golden eyes of a dragon born in Light, the keen mind she inherited from her Arcane mother — and a Lightning dragon's interest in technology.

Like her magically inclined twin sister, Soltnar, Khatorl enjoys doing nothing more than working on her latest grand project in peace, though in Khatorl’s case this usually is some sort of mechanical contraption. Her mind, like her mother’s, is a scientifically oriented one — and it seems as if Khatorl does all she can to prove it.

It is ‘progress’ that is on Khatorl’s mind at all times; therefore, it should come as no surprise that she considers her Order’s leader, Caeda, as something akin to an elder sibling, much to the chagrin of Soltnar, who believes the family is big enough as it is. Humorous remarks aside, Caeda has earned the respect of Khatorl more than Soltnar, and the two are frequently collaborating on projects — perhaps because Caeda is glad to finally have another mechanic in the Clan.

Khatorl, like her sister Soltnar, is one of the younger dragons in the Clan; the two were born shortly after Robin joined the only recently founded Clan. However, they have both been granted a place within the Gilded Circle, both because they did join early like the others in the Circle and to offer the viewpoint of a young member.

Though Khatorl doesn’t spend as much time with her younger sister, Morgan, as she would like, she nonetheless enjoys her company: it is a frequent occurrence for the two enjoy a logical game or two, even though their interests lie somewhat apart.

Khatorl is aware of her mother’s situation — however, unlike her magic-using siblings, Khatorl has never uttered a single spell in her life. She closely keeps track of what is happening, but… is that really enough?

Giving off little shocks whenever touched, this pearl remains close to another pearl. The memory contained within is as follows:

"I was born here, together with Soltnar. The Clan was only small then — back then, this place was empty. As I grew up, it grew with me. But I don't think this was a bad place to have grown up in, not at all! I've always been very grateful, to everyone.

We were still young when we met Morgan. Our mother told us that she was our sister. It was a little strange, truth be told, but I was only a child and so was she. So we accepted her, as our little sister. After that, my mother taught magic to Soltnar, and she in turn taught Morgan.

I never got to learn any of it. I tried, honestly! But conjuring up anything more than the tiniest sparks... that was far out my reach. So, if I couldn't do it myself, I had to make something that'd do it for me. And I did.

I can't do more than that. If I can't build it, I can't do it. I'm scared that's where my abilities end. My sisters are as worried for our mother as I am, but I have no idea how I'd even begin to help. All I can do now is hope that the others might do something. I have to leave it up to them. But I trust my sisters, and I trust they can fix whatever's wrong."

12178682p.png "Robin is my mother. She's always been there for me and my sisters. I have to repay her somehow, but... how? I can't do much, except support her and my sisters, and there's no amount of steel that would accomplish the things they pull off. But I'll fight for her, if I have to. It's the least I could do."
14861529p.png "Soltnar is my sister. We were born on the same eve, and she does the things I can't — it's hard not to compare myself to her. But I remind myself that for all her spellbooks and flames, I've done quite some things myself. I'd like to see her face me in a one-on-one tinkering match — that would be amazing!"
12774213p.png "Morgan is our little sister. She's always been a sweet girl, and I love her dearly. She's closer to Soltnar than to me, though, since she's the one doing Morgan's magic training — but we've had some amazing times together! Even if we don't see each other much now, she needs to know that I'm still there for her."
12124510p.png "Caeda is the boss of this place. We're only a small Order, and for long we've been nothing but a glorified scrapmetal sisterhood. But she cares well for me, and eases my worries whenever they return. I am glad we've got these kinds of leaders around here, at least."

Aspect of Thunder

Khatorl's soul hums and buzzes in tune to her hammers and wrenches — while her magic is less capable than that of her sisters, she can at least channel some of it through the various contraptions she creates, allowing it to manifest itself in the form of deadly lightning. While not as impressive as the freely-cast magic of her sisters, Khatorl prides herself on it nonetheless, and the degree of control she has over it is greater than theirs.

As proof of their bond, what little magic Khatorl has reacts unusually well to that of her sisters: when her bolts are combined with the flames Soltnar creates or the beams of light from Morgan's spells, they increase in power — capable of reaching enormous amounts of destructive strength if the sisters try hard enough.
