Ma'at
Clan Leader - Military Division, Scales Leader Some mistakes cannot be corrected. Some sins cannot be forgiven. Some things cannot be made right. And some roads, once taken, will never lead you home. aaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaa aaaaaa aaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaa |

The Noc with no chill, Ma'at is the clan leader in charge of the clan's military force, the Scales. This would be a less stressful job if anyone other than Netjeri could be depended to keep their heads in the heat of battle, but Ma’at is used to whipping incompetent dragons into place. With her in charge of the clan’s military might, the number of invasions have remained at a nice steady zero and the number of dragons who can actually fight has gone up. Of course, Ma’at would like it better if she could also stop Muffin from blowing up the lair every other hour, but everyone has their limits. Though the original purpose of the Scales was to defend the clan lair from external attacks, this purpose is defeated by the fact that there aren’t any other dragon clans in the Runic Mountain Range for the clan to be attacked by or wage war against. It is also defeated by the fact that Kraken has already obliterated the majority of the Beastclans in the Runic Mountain Range, and the fact that Hathor quickly annihilates any Beastclan that attempts to even think about rebelling. Thus, Ma’at has turned to protecting the clan from its next greatest enemy - itself. Honestly, it’s a true miracle the clan hasn’t blown itself up yet, and Ma’at intends to keep it that way by sending members of the Scales around the lair to keep order and solve disputes. Said members of the Scales are fighters, not mediaters, but enough of the squabbles end up as physical confrontations anyway for them to pull their weight. Ma’at has also organized a series of daily patrols around the Runic Mountain Range to maintain the clan’s security and scout out trouble Hathor’s team might’ve missed. Those patrols are usually peaceful, seeing that any and all existing Beastclans are terrified of that one insane dragon clan in the range, but sometimes the Scales will pick up the occasional dragon that ends up in the forest instead of headfirst in Myrtle’s leylines. The patrols are also in charge of magically sealing off any dangerous places, though one can argue that the clan’s ventilation system is far more dangerous than any other place in the range. As for the members of the Scales themselves, Ma’at would’ve preferred if she’d been able to handpick the smartest, strongest, and most reliable dragons in the clan. However, when she actually got to the hand-picking process, only Netjeri fit the qualifications, so she had to diversify. That meant that Ma’at ended up with a lot of dragons she didn’t want to work with, but at least those dragons aren’t as ridiculous as the rest of the clan. Except for Veles. He’s ridiculous, and if he didn’t know how to use Eliminate she would’ve had him tossed in the ventilation system already. |

Another Scales member she doesn’t get along with is Venti, who is far too lax and flexible with the rules for her to get along with. She’s tried everything from accusing him of allying with the Beastclans to slacking off in an attempt to get him banned from the Scales, but unfortunately, Venti has the protection of Kraken and Demeter, and while Ma’at can wrestle Kraken to the ground with an ugly look, she has no desire to cross Demeter now or in the future. That, and the fact that Venti’s the only reliable healer in the clan makes him ideal for the team, whether Ma’at likes it or not. And she doesn’t like it, which is why despite his usefulness, she’s still keeping an eagle eye on his every movement. Kavenia is another Scale member Ma’at dislikes, which makes it three out of four members of Scales she doesn’t get along with. The reason Ma’at doesn’t like Kavenia is, however, quite legitimate, seeing that the Nocturne also acts as an assassin when called upon by either Demeter or Hathor. Such a complete lack of morality is one thing Ma’at absolutely can’t abide by, but she also can’t throw Kavenia off the team, because if she does, it’s likely that Kavenia will go around slaughtering without restraint, and some order is better than none at all. When she’s not yelling at the Scale members to get themselves together or yelling at the rest of the clan to stop breaking the rules, Ma’at can usually be found in the training stadium, where anyone who wants combat training can go and try their hand against the Nocturne. Though Ma’at isn’t particularly strong, physically or magically, the rapier she carries has the unique ability to cancel out magical attacks. It also hurts like hell if you get whacked by it, and is further enchanted to be sharp enough to cut through dragon scales, making Ma’at quite the terrifying foe to fight against. And don’t think you’ll be able to get the upper hand on her even if she’s unarmed. Ma’at’s rapier is controlled by her mind, and she’s able to summon it regardless of where it is and use it to fight through mental commands alone. Nobody’s quite sure how she managed to get her claws on such a high-level weapon. Nobody feels like asking. She can also use the sword as a flying mount to transport her to places if her wings are injured. No, you’re not allowed to hitch a ride. Stop asking. As the only important dragon in the clan who cares about the rules, Ma’at is extremely pensive about regulations, from making sure her clanmates never break them to making new rules her clanmates aren’t allowed to break. Nobody ever follows her rules when she’s not around, because there’s no point in not running in the hallway when Muffin’s laboratory is smoking and you’re pretty sure the ceiling is going to cave in again. However, if you do get caught by Ma’at, be prepared for punishment push-ups and reading Vespera’s newspapers. It’s widely agreed that the latter is the greater evil, and Unnamed didn’t make it past the third paragraph last time before begging for mercy and shrieking hysterically. Ma’at is quite monotonous and rarely shows emotions (the most you can get out of her nowadays is either a threatening glare or a disapproving one), but she is quite clear about how she feels about another dragon, especially one she doesn’t like. She also never forgets an insult, never accepts apologies, and has all of her grudges memorized, making her a terrifying dragon nobody wants to offend, not even once. Fortunately, Ma’at is quite fair about how she treats other dragons, and doesn’t take out her hatred on others by making them do forced labor. Venti is the sole exception to this. She does not give a damn about the green chicken dancer. The only dragon in the clan that can be considered her friend is Netjeri, who’s kind enough to listen to Ma’at lecture about the many flaws of the justice system, the doctrine of fairness, and a bunch of other things that have something to do with the rubbish some call morals. She also spends a lot of time sparring with Ma’at. The apparel that Ma’at wears is actually a gift from Netjeri, enchanted to help Ma’at in magical defense. Ma’at trips on it half the time she’s wearing it, but she keeps it on because there’s nothing more embarrassing than being the leader of a group of dragons who are better dressed than she is. She will, however, throw her crown as a spiky projectile if need be. You have been warned. |
