Tethys is both the Lightning Flight representative, as well as the mechanic for the Refuge. Tethys generally works on their own schedule, and they don't take kindly when others tell them when or how to do their job. They are highly adept with technology and their role as representative is seen as secondary and they only do it when something specific needs to be done. (Some in the Refuge think that Tethys neglects relations with the Lightning Flight)

Tethys was hatched into no clan, but instead lived only with their mother, who was a wealthy merchant and well-versed in the sciences. Their mother had extremely high expectations when Tethys was growing up and sent them to many of the most well-known academics in Sorneith to be tutored. Tethys, however, had no interest in academia and instead favoured hands-on tasks such as repair work and building things. Tethys also spent many hours and days taking part in as many reckless activities as possible.

This disappointed their mother and lead them to seperate on harsh terms when Tethys was hardly old enough to make a living. They worked around as a mechanic until they met Atney when they were both in the Reedcleft Ascent. Atney told Tethys that the Refuge was in desperate need of both a mechanic and a Lightning Representative. Tethys took the job (and home) gratefully.

The intense desire for freedom

Robert Downer Jr.

Tethys is the living definition of personal reckless endangerment and it's, quite honestly, a miracle from the Arcanist himself that they're still alive and breathing today. An adrenaline junkie, Tethys is known around the Refuge (and neighboring clans) as someone who is either looking for a fight or a task that most would consider suicidal. While Tethys is constantly ready for that rushing, overwhelming thrill, they're smart enough to keep other dragons out of it.

(Unless they're asking for fight, Tethys would say)

Tethys also goes through unpredictable mood-swings and have far too much excess energy, this leads their relationships with other dragons to be somewhat strained often times. Most of the time, however, Tethys is friendly and agreeable, which means they have many friends, even with the mood-swings.

My heart felt as though it was going to beat itself right out of my chest. The thrill of the fall was thrumming under my scales and the roar of the wind rushing past my ears drowned out every noise. I pressed my wings to my sides, preventing them from catching enough air to slow my descent.
It was a habit Aryse disliked. Immensely. I would probably get a lecture from him, but I needed this. I needed the fall, the thrill, the adrenaline, the freedom.

Flying was fine, enjoyable even. But falling was exhilarating and intoxicating. I was hyper-focused on each feeling against my scales. The wind, the cloth of my coat. My breath was lost in the wind and I plummeted closer and closer to the ground.

Alcyne had once told me I probably need this because of my mother, I need to feel out of control because I had to much control as a hatchling, growing up. Each restriction growing tighter around my throat as every expectation of her's inched higher. Maybe Alcyne was right, maybe not. It didn't matter much, because I am free to do as I please now.

I looked down again, seeing a form on the ground grow clearer very quickly. I spread my wings suddenly and I seemed to hang in mid-air as the I slowed down, I circled lightly, and came to rest on solid ground again, breathless.

Aryse was waiting, disapproval written across his face.
