Negotiator and Right Wing of Fogfloe.

With Serge being the way he is, Maris oversees the day to day running of the clan. New additions to Fogfloe quickly work out that while their Clanhead's scarred visage and irascibility deserve caution, it is Maris who they ought to fear, should they misstep. For Serge is straightforward, blunt in a way that his claws never could be, but Maris is a Spined Cobra lying still in the long grass – you never see her coming.

Those who see Serge and Maris together and assume that the smaller, female dragon is a gentling influence would be wrong. They are both as ruthless as the other, two sides of the same coin. It's just less readily apparent in Maris. They didn't agree to form a clan so much as tacitly approve of each other's predatory instincts. Serge bends with brute force and bared teeth. Maris bends with words and a smile.

Like most Spirals, Maris is talkative, but capable of saying much without revealing anything, and often uses her breed's reputation for having a flittering attention span to her advantage. She certainly has enough on her mind. Since Serge is utterly disinterested in decision-making except perhaps what to catch for his next meal, it falls to Maris to work out the specifics of lair space, how to feed their insect eaters, and how likely it is for a neighbouring clan to invade. Other dragons might chafe at being underestimated, but it suits Maris just fine. Life's a game, and she plays to win.
