DHAERON
THE BLIND PRINCE ____________________________ desc. as "the kind gardener". + Warm and nurturing + enjoys growing water lilies + provides a number of flowers for aromatherapies |
Dhaeron was once heir to a king who was both corrupt and fallen to madness in the barren plains of the lightning territories.
Despite his less than aggressive manners, the quiet prince founded a resistance among the people, working from the shadows to usurp the throne and return the power to those it had been taken from. But, just as a final assault was to be mounted, Dhaeron found himself trapped within the palace, surrounded by guards, and taken before his sire. Enraged by his heir's betrayal, the king attacked Dhaeron, blinding him before throwing him into the river that flowed through their land. Weak, grief-stricken and near death, he was found by a healer named Hajari and taken into the underground city that was well-concealed beneath the waves. Despite his traumatic circumstances, Dhaeron adapted well to blindness, his gentle soul untouched as he carved out a lair of his own near to the surface of the city and adorned it with the most beautiful flowers he could find. Now he lives a quiet life, speaking little save to Hajari and spending his days tending to his flowers, hanging them to dry and creating a mysterious but beautiful ceiling of light and petals lit by the short tunnels leading to the surface. _____
He stood before the king, his head respectfully bowed as always even as the mutters from his sire reached his ears. He was pacing again- his claws clicked back and forth, offering him a sense of where he was.
Dhaeron did not hate his sire, despite how many told him that he should, or that he did. No, he had founded the resistance so that those beneath his rule would finally escape the cruelty and injustice that they faced each day. They were so close to finishing their mission- his sire was supposed to be making a speech within the city that day, and his lieutenants had been informed and put into place to make their move. This derailed their plans- he was supposed to be present to give the signal. "My Lord-" he began softly, lifting his head. "Silence!" his sire snarled, whirling on him, wings flared and teeth bared in a savage growl. "You have done enough scheming behind my back. Your resistance has been wormed out, and I have discovered that none other than my own heir is behind it! No, no, traitors would not be so bold as to linger beneath my own protection." Dhaeron's heart thundered in his chest. "You would take my throne, my kingdom from me." the king snarled, utter madness in his gaze. "I will not let you have it! It is mine!" Dhaeron had no time to prepare as his sire threw himself at him, talons outstretched and teeth aimed for his throat. He fell, using his legs to fend off the frenzied rage that was directed at him, crying out in pain as teeth and claws raked across any available surface. He was barely aware when they threw him into the river, its chilled waters grabbing him and pulling him under. |
