And yet, you'll know. You'll know you're watched You'll know her eyes still stare You'll search for her but you'll search in vain You'll find no dragon there. Is she a ghost? Or poltergeist? She wants to make you scared She'll trip and trap and plot and ploy The trickster dragon there. Your scales will rust and your wings will stick. Your satchel straps will tear She'll laugh at you from past the trees The dragon knows you're there. You've walked this path so many times But now the roots will snare You'll catch your claws; you'll trip and fall The dragon's got you there. There's naught to do but block your ears And offer up a prayer Just tell yourself you're seeing things There is no dragon there. But from the shadows you'll see a flash Rust scales and blood-red stare. The trickster's got you cornered now You're with the dragon there. Don't try to run, don't try to fight She'll take it as a dare Just hope the prank is only small Far from the dragon there. She's demon and she's devil too She'll be your worst nightmare So pray she doesn't find you fun; You'll never leave from there. But if you're very fortunate And she's in the mood to share Perhaps she'll tell you her secrets To be the dragon there. Don't take her friendship lightly It's dangerous and rare But you could be a kindred heart To the dragon there. So who are you, brave traveller? You'd better be prepared Are you friend or foe or tasty prey To the dragon there? Go quickly through her darkened land If she finds you: don't despair Suffer her tricks as best you can And then make haste from there. Don't go in the woods, they tell you And if you do: Beware! She's in there and she sees you It's Elektra's lair! |
