Biography
Hathor
Clan Leader - *diplomatically decapitates you with a cleaver* aaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaa aaaaaa aaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaa |
|
One of the leaders of the Aequitas Clan, Hathor arrived in the Runic Mountain Range during the clan's scuffle against the Guardian Myrtle, who had declared war due to the Aequitas dragons using her Charge as a doormat. While Hathor had no idea what was happening in the slightest, she managed to diplomatically convince Myrtle into standing down (re: holding an axe to the Guardian's favourite tree) and agreeing to a truce with the clan. After a consensus had been reached, Demeter came forth to her with an offer of a leadership role in the relatively new clan. While Hathor had never wanted to be clan leader and had no interest in shouldering anything that even hinted at responsibility, she was sold when Demeter mentioned free donuts. Thus, on that fateful day that declared the ending of the long war, Hathor was named the third leader of the Aequitas Clan. She was a little disappointed when she found out by donuts, Demeter meant those plastic tape dispensers, but oh well. You get what you get. As the clan leader in charge of diplomatic ties, Hathor has the most paperwork out of all four leaders, and maybe also the only leader who's resigned herself to putting things on paper. Some dragons wonder how exactly she keeps her confidential files safe from the clan's daily explosions and minor riots. Other dragons wonder what exactly she keeps on those confidential files. It's not like the clan has deep secrets that nobody else knows, and on closer inspection, the pages are completely blank. This might just be an illusion spell, or fake substitutes, or there might not actually be anything printed on the papers. The world may never know. Aside from amassing an impressive pile of paperwork that is later handed off to Haukin to be dealt with, Hathor is responsible for maintaining a friendly relationship with what's left of the Beastclans in the Runic Mountain Range. This requires her to do a lot of flying around and checking up on their "allies" (are they still allies if you'd obliterate them at the first sign of trouble?) For that reason, Hathor has combed throughout the Runic Mountain Range more so than the next dragon. If you’re looking for a place or have forgotten where the irradiated prickly pear go, this is the dragon you want to ask. Of course, Hathor’s knowledge of the range is still inferior to Universa’s, despite the fact the oracle rarely ever leaves the lair and usually has to be dragged out to help with menial tasks. This would be suspicious to any other dragon, but to Hathor, this just means she can direct any inquiries about the mountain range to Universa and focus on doing more important work. |

Hathor works with a variety of dragons to ensure peace in the Runic Mountain Range, and if not peace, at least safety for the clan. Her daughter Arete guards her on her diplomatic trips to nearby Beastclans, and Viper plays the role of infiltrating said clans to see whether someone should be dispatched to When she's off the clock, Hathor likes to spend her time with Demeter in the Fae's tea garden. While she's not particularly fond of the beverage, or of the Karma Cafe as a whole, the very top of the lair is a good place to bask in the glory of her kingdom, as well as make sure Myrtle hasn't beheaded any unfortunate visitor of the late. She also spends quite a lot of time alone in the kitchens trying to cook, but seeing as she has the unique ability to turn perfectly good food into deadly poison, it's probably a good idea for her to be alone, and also for all her clanmates to quickly evacuate to as far as possible. Erigone is Hathor’s mate, diplomatically gained after she diplomatically convinced him they should be a couple. (Other dragons would describe it as "stalking him 24/7 until he gave in" to which Hathor would reply "screw you".) Despite how they started their relationship, the two are very much close to each other, and Erigone is the only dragon who can drag Hathor out of her office when she's in a "I'LL SHOW EM HARDWORKING" mode. Hathor is forever trying to get Erigone to do more exciting things, and while he's not against going to see one of Seraphina’s plays or joining Ravanai’s chariot races, he put his foot down when Hathor suggested they abduct Muffin's cauldron. Some lines shouldn't be crossed. Even diplomatically. Haukin is their son, and forever buried in a pile of paperwork Hathor pushes his way. Hathor’s quite proud that she has such a good, hardworking child. Haukin would be proud to have a good, hardworking mother as well, if she’d just stop throwing all her work his way. Hathor's other child is Arete, adopted when the Spiral inadvertently ended up in the Runic Mountain Range. Though Hathor still has her suspicions about Arete’s strange magic, Arete gets along well with Haukin and Erigone, and that’s all she’s asking for. Now, if she could stop going on bloodthirsty rampages, that would be great. Hathor has a naturally weak physique, making her incapable of beating a fly with a fly zapper and a wrecking ball. Her record during the clan’s annual physical exam was two push-ups and half a chin-up, and considering how she passed out for two days after, that was probably her limit. She is far better at spellweaving, and her spells have the surprising tendency to actually do what they’re supposed to do. Though as the leader of diplomatic divisions, Hathor's usually only in charge of punishing those who aren't part of the clan, any clan member that crosses her is shoved into the ventilation system at the top of the clan lair. The naturally formed airways in solid stone provide oxygen to every occupied part of the lair and serve as an excellent multi-layered maze for the unfortunate to wander until they inevitably die of starvation or thirst. Fortunately, only two dragons have ever been tossed in there, and neither of them are dragons the rest of the clans will miss. Strangely enough, despite the fact their bodies are probably rotting somewhere in the ventilation system, the air received by the rest of the clan remains fresh and clear, tinted only by the faintest sound of an echoing melody. |
