The gatherers found Tinsley when they were gathering near a cave system. A fairly constant humming sound drew them towards a cave where they found a little lost nocturne hatchling, who was the source of humming. Tinsley's clan had warned her to stay away from the caves since they said that those who wandered into them were never heard from again but she went exploring them anyway. When she found herself lost and unable to find her way out she started humming to try to get anyone's attention and to calm herself down. She ended up coming with the gatherers back to the BlueFox Clan when they were unable to locate her original clan.

Tinsley never felt quite right as a Nocturne and felt that she should be a Wildclaw there wasn't much that could be done for a while since Wildclaw scrolls were hard to come across and were said to cost an arm and a leg. But Aster, with the help of Alianne, managed to find a Wildclaw scroll that didn't cost the clan too many gems and gifted it to Tinsley to use when she wanted to.

Possibly due to being a Nocturne first or growing up in the BlueFox lair, Tinsley doesn't get how other Wildclaws base their hierarchy on fighting abilities.

Tinsley has always enjoyed the stars, along with exploring, so becoming an astronomer just seemed like a natural thing for her to do. She makes her own star charts that are pinned around her living space along with notes about anything and areas that she can't quite make out with her own instruments.
