During the Brightshine Jubilee, a little flower hatched from the abandoned egg.

It was a flower with two bright yellow eyes that skittered around, drinking in the world.

The little flower found a home. He found a mate, he found books he loved to read. What the little flower never found was his voice, or a pair of functioning wings.

It never bothered the little flower much. Even though no one understood his particular language, and he never saw any of his family move or even have frills like he did, everyone could understand him just fine. His eyes said all he needed to say.

He didn't mind his wings being broken because they gave him new wings. They were small, and cold, and hard, but they made him fly like all the others. He took his wings off only to sleep, and sometimes not even then.

The little flower was happy. Even though he never said it, even though someone called him broken, and even though he sometimes cried because he maybe was. The little flower was happy just being alive under the sun and communicating in his own way, and flying with his own wings.

But even though he loved his family, he just wanted to find a place to really belong.
