Peridot

When he was born, some indifferent parent decided his green gembond looked like Peridot, and slapped that as a label on him. He never liked it. It was a rock, not a name. Peridot vowed to change it when he became one of the clan warriors and he was the first in the clan with his brother-Nimbus to achieve that. The problem was, all this time Nimbus called him Peri. How could he change that? That was when he decided he'd leave his name alone, and just bite anyone who added anything past Peri.

Peri is not the nice side of Nature. He is a focused predator. A little different for a spiral, because on the hunt he has a silent intensity. Though maybe he could have blended into a forest when he was young, some wild youthful raids into plague lands left him with a glowing contagion. Luckily it hasn't spread further and doesn't seem to be contagious with contact. It makes him brightly lit and able to fly even on dark nights as he is his own flashlight. He attracts fireflies like crazy and they are his favourite snack.

His green eyes are wicked, his tongue teasing, and smile sharp. When not out, his favourite activity is to whip around teasing and chatting with those he cares about. He loves no one as much as his battle partner Nimbus, and has accepted Nimbus' mate Sadira as a dear friend as well. He spends some time with most of the other warrior dragons, but the pair of Tundra are the ones he is really closest to. The remainder of the clan may as well not exist to him beyond the occasional chat, or good natured tease.

Chill winds slid over Peri's scales as he tumbled thoughtlessly in the air. Nimbus sat quietly nearby, Sadira leaning into his shoulder. Their fur blended together, dark sheen meeting blue-green shine in the green light Peri cast upon them. The tundras appeared to be looking at the sky, the stars brilliant above them, though there were dark holes where aerial clans like their own blocked the sky.

Unconcerned with the apparent inattention, Peri rambled softly as his six wings kept him twisting and turning near his friends, "Come to me my pretty lights, fireflies, look at my light. So much better than yours. Come see, come see. So yummy. I think eating fireflies definitely makes me glow brighter. Must feed the glow. Then the glow brings more yummy friends, look at how big this moth is. Delicious." Having managed to twist himself into a crazy upsidedown pose above the young bamboo plants, Peri flipped over. Under his glowing horns his eyes seemed to light as well, "Enough snacking friends, loves, lets find something bigger to hunt." He beamed at the pair of tundra, snapping forward into motion again, aiming for an older stand of bamboo, with trunks spaced widely enough to fit dragons of their size.

The tundras stretched lazily and followed slowly, padding along the ground while Peri whipped like a glowing dagger through the swaying trunks. No one could miss Peri, but he had backup that wasn't quite so showy when anything large and stupid dared to attack him, and anything that decided to run from the crazed spiral? Well it ran right to his friends claws. It worked for them, helped feed the clan when they were bored, and kept anything dangerous away from the newer ground-bound clans. Service with a snack.
