Born with the inexplicable ability to turn everything he comes into contact with into gold, Midas grew up a lonely hatchling, as most other dragons he came into contact with were fearful of his ability. Kailash, a Coatl with a love for everything shiny, managed to coax him out of his shell by her genuine delight at his ability, and she quickly became his best friend. However, after a tragic accident turned his beloved familiar into little more than a valuable statue, Midas went into a life of self-imposed isolation to protect those around him; Kailash, the only one to ever show him any kindness, in particular.

For some curious reason, his pearl is one of the few objects he's ever encountered that reverts back to its natural state as soon as he is no longer in direct contact with it.

As he is forever searching for a way to turn his porpoise back to normal, he has immersed himself in the art of transmutation. Long nights filled with endless discussions and shared hypotheses have lead to the clan's Alchemist, Psyche, becoming the closest thing he has to a real friend.

Recently he has started dabbling in necromancy as well, aware that even if he can revert his familiar back to her natural state, he is likely to receive little more than a corpse for his efforts.
