A flighty little fellow who’s always excited for the next adventure. Fern’s been seen all over Sornieth since she set out from the Shifting Expanse; though she’s most frequently spotted around where the Scarred Wasteland, Windswept Plateau, and the Sea of a Thousand Currents meet, she can be found anywhere, her trademark scarf fluttering in the breeze.

Years ago, an exchange of letters with her parents gave Fern both her cherished earrings and a fascination with long-distance contact. She’s since taken it upon herself to act as a messenger—which is really just an excuse to never stop seeing new places and meeting new faces. Although she leaves a paper trail wherever she goes (maps? stray letters? yes), she’ll go to the ends of Sornieth and back to pick up flyaway mail. If nothing else, she offers consolation trinkets and a harpy friend to pet.
Bumble Given her job, Fern has some loose connection with many a dragon. Of special note is Apidae, a traveling partner who got lost one day and never returned. Fern had largely assumed him gone for good when, while relaying a spoken message from Mallow to Amaranta, Fern recognized one of those voices Mallow described.

Although Apidae will never be traveling with her again, it brings Fern peace to know he lives on in some form. Sometimes, as she flies through the Tangled Wood, she even hears a faint, familiar buzz…
