Foxfire

Foxfire Plays-at-Darkness is a gambler, a grifter, a smooth-talking breaker of hearts, a conniver, a charlatan, and always gone in the morning. She throws bones and dice with an easy talon and counts cards. She loves a carnival and follows the festival circuit, smoothly running games tables, but really comes into her own during the week of Trickmurk Circus, for which she pulls out all the stops and represents her clan of Persisting Shadow memorably.

She's one of the only members of her clan who isn't disturbed by the hermit Natasza, in fact delighting in her ways and habits (which Natasza herself sometimes finds disquieting). Foxfire is happy to wear her mentor's pearl jewelry, and carries around a small carving that she claims whispers secrets to her, and sometimes tells her the contents of a player's hand. She's the first to admit that they have driven her a little mad but, as with the fungus upon which she prefers to feed, she claims to enjoy the effect.

Sister and clutchmate to Foxtrot, she loves her brother in much the same way cats love small rodents and tender, flightless birds. She enjoys stalking and teasing him, showing up unexpectedly and regaling him with stories of her exploits that he would prefer not to know.
