Name: "A blood red color"

Sanguine is the eldest son of a pair of mighty warriors sent to serve the Icewarden in dominance wars, and as such he was raised with the belief that he would follow in their footsteps. Things did not go as planned, as the young wildclaw, while hunting during a storm, was separated from his clan. He wandered aimlessly, trying to find his way back, but, before he knew it, he was on Sornieth's mainland, far from the Southern Icefield.

Dismayed, the young wildclaw made his way to the Starfall Isles, and soon met a nocturne larger than any he'd ever seen. She was a wily creature, with massive wings and an even bigger body, and mocked Sanguine for his shock upon their first meeting.

She didn't take kindly to her new visitor, but eventually warmed up to him. Soon enough, she put him to use in her small observatory, making him help her chart out constellation after constellation. He told her the practice was useless, as the Arcanist had already done this eons ago, and her response was to spit in distaste, claiming that the gods couldn't be trusted for everything. And, she made sure to point out, she wasn't even an Arcane dragon, having originated from the depths of the Ashfall Waste.

Sanguine's new friend never told him her name, simply insisting on being called the Gazer. The Gazer taught Sanguine things he never would've known otherwise, from how the stars worked to the power of the magic flowing within the ground beneath his feet. Having been trained as a warrior, he'd always struggled to become stronger in the physical aspect, but soon the wildclaw began to see himself as a respected scholar. Then, one day, the Gazer showed him the latest in a line of dubious inventions she'd created.

What she presented him with was an elegant headdress, assembled with a skull of unknown origin and a set of brilliantly red feathers. The headdress came with several other pieces of armor, and leather straps to prevent them from chafing against his skin. He was confused, but allowed her to dress him in the armor. The Gazer claimed she'd finally managed to access Arcane magic, and wanted him to test its effectiveness. Then, without saying how, she set the headdress on his smooth skull.

Immediately, Sanguine felt a rush of power, and the Ice dragon's mind filled with a flash of sudden static and noise. He could see everything and nothing all at once, and the sheer impossibility of it made his mouth water. He wanted more, all the knowledge he could have! The Gazer was no fool, and she could see he was already overwhelmed. Sighing and muttering about the test being a failure, she tried to remove the headdress.

This proved to be a mistake, as he lunged out, determined not to lose this new sensation. Sanguine's claws tore at the nocturne's belly, killing her instantly. Somewhere inside him, Sanguine knew what he did, and a wail built up in his throat, filled with despair, but it could not, WOULD not, escape. The headdress, however, had too much power over him, and only gave him bliss at having kept it in his possession.

With the Gazer dead at his feet, the wildclaw decided he had to leave, as surely other dragons would investigate her absence. And how would he explain what he'd done? The headdress assured him it would be fine, he would be safe, and directed him elsewhere, to deep within the Tangled Wood.

The Arcane power bursting through the headdress danced before his eyes as he stumbled through the trees, blinding him and preventing him from seeing where he was going. As he went, he was suddenly thrown to the ground, the wood digging into his scales as a sharp pain flared up in his side.

Through the haze of the eye holes in the headdress, he could see a powerful wildclaw female, smaller than he, but just as powerful, if not more so! The magic seemed pleased with her presence, and all Sanguine could think was that she was simply lovely, her face set in a fierce snarl as she dug her great talon into his side.

The ensuing conversation was a daze to him, blinded as he was by both the magic and the stranger, but somehow Sanguine convinced her to take him back to her clan. He was immensely displeased to see another, much smaller, wildclaw, whose face was masked by a limp wolf pelt, greet her, likely her mate. The leader at the time, a runt of a tundra, seemed excited by Sanguine's presence, and the wildclaw could make out something about a "royal guard" in his excited speech.

Whatever it was, it seemed to confuse the small, pelt-wearing wildclaw, but the beautiful one was excited, and that was enough to please Sanguine. He purred and agreed to whatever the tundra was saying, soon finding himself working alongside the other two wildclaws.

At some point, the haze the headdress had over Sanguine's mind lessened, and he learned about his new situation. The clan was called Allixestr, mainly made up of scholars, and the new guard were the only real warriors of the bunch. Mezawari was the name of the beautiful warrior he'd first come across, while her mate was named Morpheus.

Among the new clan, Sanguine found the attention of the leader's daughter, a fairly long fae named Fringe, was on him. She wanted him to be her consort when he took power, and though he was reluctant at first, he decided it wouldn't be that bad. If he couldn't have Mezawari, Fringe would do. Besides, it wouldn't hurt to have the power he'd receive at her side.

When Fringe took over for her father, Sanguine was right by her side.

Eventually, they had a son that would take Fringe's place as leader: Noah. Sanguine didn't know why his son was born a mirror, when the others he had with Fringe were all faes, but accepted him easily. Eventually, he decided to train him to be as mighty of a warrior as his father. And when Noah took power from his parents, Sanguine was happy to let him do so without a fight, even as Fringe was exiled from the clan.

Once Fringe was gone, Sanguine was once again left to be a member of the royal guard, and accepted the change without a fight. He assumed things would be the same, and was dismayed to find they weren't. Mezawari and Morpheus began spending more time together without him, often seeming to forget he was there.

Sanguine doesn't understand why they seem to be ignoring him, but he's not happy. The magic in the mask he has never taken off has only grown more powerful, filling his mind with endless static and whispers.
