Biography

Necalli

Nestminder

Necalli was a runty little hatchling. His colors were very dull when he hatched and his parents were worried he might not make it. Time passed and he clung to life as best he could, and life rewarded his determination. His plumage grew bright in his juvenile years and he went through a growth spurt, but unfortunately some features stayed as they were. His crests, which on normal male coatls would grow large and stand up proudly, remained dropped back and small, giving him a more feminine appearance.

It has been the cause for much teasing and many...mistakes, involving other males. Due to his smaller plumage, he was often mistaken for a female during mating season. After one particularly awkward encounter, Necalli left his birth clan and ventured out. He met a traveling bard on the road who told him a tale about a clan in the Tangled Wood that accepted all manner of outcasts, as long as they would commit themselves and serve the Shadowbinder. With nothing left to lose, Necalli headed for the Tangled Wood.

He joined Shadowhymn and was at first accepted by one of the Shamans as an apprentice, but it was later realized that he was extremely good with caring for eggs and hatchlings. And so after much ado, he was made Nestminder. He takes his job very seriously and is very protective of the nests that are in his care.

Necalli met Raven whilst out on a stroll, and the two struck up a fast friendship that quickly grew into something more. Raven was eager to claim Necalli as his mate, but the other hesitated and avoided the mating issue for awhile. Although Necalli had wanted hatchlings of his own, he had always been told he'd never attract a mate due to his stunted crest.

He eventually accepted Raven as his mate and the two settled into their lives together. Several months after their official mating ceremony, Raven found an abandoned Fire egg while out on patrol in the woods with the rest of his team. When the real parents couldn't be found he took the egg back home with him for him and Necalli to raise as their own. Necalli couldn't have been more overjoyed. He had a strong, handsome mate and a hatchling of his own now. He had the family he had always longed for.

As one who deeply cares for the hatchlings and spends most of his time with them, Necalli's hoard is baby-friendly. He hoards plushies of all kinds and paints/pigments for the babies to play with, along with a couple nutritious snacks. He also likes to keep a few ribbons on hand for when one of the hatchlings does something particularly good or noteworthy.
