Zurina Loyal | Cunning | Blood-thirsty Warlord | Hunt Leader Some say they'll rest when they're dead. Me? I'll never quit. |
"Every rose has its thorns, but I, my little morsel, am no rose. I am a wildfire, and you are a puff of Zephyr Cotton before me. You will be devoured and destroyed, utterly. None shall sing your song in the Halls of Splendor; you shall never have existed at all."

Zurina, dreaded Warlord of The Cult, is feared for thousands of miles as the dragon you want to see on a battlefield the least. Her appearance spells sure doom for your forces, for not only is she a capable commander, she is also a bloodthirsty warrior, setting her four eyes not on mere victory, but on the complete and total decimation of her enemies. This, of course, also extends to the enemies of her Goddess, Chavi. Whoever is allied with the forces of Chavi's foes knows that their days are numbered. As soon as Chavi sets Zurina on the defeat of those enemies, one way or another, their defeat is sealed in stone. That said, Zurina still isn't the worst dragon you could meet in The Cult-that would be Chrysalis, who can be spoken of elsewhere-she values courage and strength, and while none escape her deadly claws, if you show courage, she will at least have some respect for you. Her desires from her soldiers are a combination of many things; strength and ferocity being chief among them, but obedience, bravery, bravado, and just a little bit of headstrong stupidity are always welcome, too. She is a harsh leader, with no patience for stupidity or complacent weakness, and those who refuse to try and improve will quickly find their lives getting worse in quality. |

Crops burned, animals taken, families torn apart, and naught but ruins left in her wake... these are the hallmarks of Zurina; Crimson General of The Cult of the Shimmering Sky, Bloodied One, She-Whose-Name-Brings-Terror, and so on. Her mantle is semi-divine, four score voices fighting alongside her as her finest warriors, foaming with fervor. None stand in her wake, for only ashes are left behind as the new lands of The Cult. Arenas and barracks built under her watchful eyes, to glorify and fortify The Cult and the Goddess that she fights for.
Possesions
Zurina is a rather simple dragon; no silks line her den, no fine Starlight incense scents her furs. Her den is scattered with weapons and hunting trophies; furs and feathers, horns, claws, and maws, all are carefully arranged around her room to impress her prowess on any visitors she may have. Maps and campaign plans are stacked on shelves, ordered by date, to someday be cataloged by the Library and Archives workers for posterity. She sometimes meets with architects, as well, for the need for new arenas and barracks (and updates to the old) is ever-present. |
Relations
The beating of war drums and the signals of horns are what Zurina lives for. A wall of spears and shields, battle talons and thick armor... they are far more beautiful to her than any jewels. She revels in violence and decay, training her soldiers to become war machines in almost every meaning of the word. While she has a strong preference for physical combat, she also acknowledges the power of magic; the scorched marks on her hide hidden by grafts of solidified nacre, swirling with futures and visions that she sees in her dreams. Although she herself cannot perform magic, she still performs an important role in the magical life of The Cult; procuring offerings, sacrifices, and meals for the Cultists. |
And yet, Zurina knows that not every day of her life can be war. So she also takes time with Chavi and architects to make sure that all forts, towers, barracks, and arenas are maintained and in good repair. She takes time to inspect troops and oversee their training, putting them through grueling training to break their spirits and then build them back up again in an image of loyalty and strength for Chavi. More than once has she taken it upon herself to break a particularly cocky new recruit; reminding them that they are just another soldier until they manage to prove otherwise. The punishments for failure are severe, so most recruits simply do their best to not fail. After all, no one wants to be sent to spend three years training in a harrowing nightmare realm filled with demons and the souls of the damned... but such spirits must be culled, whether by ritual and rite or by a life and death battle that would test any soldier's mettle. |
Born as one of the Plaguebringer's children, Zurinas' first memory is of her climbing her way out of the Wrymwound... and then hunting the first dragon she saw. Plaguebringer, pleased by her drive to survive, told her to live all her life that way, that she may survive. Since then, despite having gone not only to a new flight, but to the service of a new, higher Goddess, Zurina still strives to live her life in that way. Hunting, fighting, slaughtering for the glory of Chavi, the sweet, sanguine wine that coats her scales after each fight is a painting of praise to Chavi's glory. Starting off like all of the God(ess)s chosen children, Zurina was born with plain scales. Once she entered the service of Chavi, however, she was granted blessings and became semi-divine; a walking, talking demigod. Her scales gained luminous stars and nebulae, and omens and fortunes dance across her scales as a walking tapestry of occult knowledge and forbidden sight. Zurina strives, each and every day, to bring more souls into the eternal servitude of Chavi, be they living or dead when they meet her. Countless thousands are brought to The Cult each year, to be trained for any number of things as the usually-nameless, unknown chattel that keep The Cult running and clean and comfortable. Zurina runs an army of soldiers and guards that keep them in line, and keep even the farthest outlands loyal and faithful to the one, true Goddess of all dragonkind. |
"Praise be to Chavi, Goddess Eternal, to whom all souls will bow."
