Journeyman Satchels
Javor
Clan of Windswept Ashes
Founder and Mate to Arvid

"I go where the wind blows."

Javor grew up in Cairnstone Rest after his abandoned egg was rescued by a member of the Earth Flight. He lived in a very stable clan with a strict hierarchy, and a mentor dragon to teach him how to hunt, fly, fight, and scavenge. He loved his mentor as he would a mother, and had plenty of companions, but always felt a bit misfit being the only wind dragon in a clan of mostly earth dragons. It wasn't like he could hide it, either- his very eye color revealed his heritage.

When he was hunting birds to feed his clan one day, he pounced upon Arvid, mistaking the rustle she made in the thicket to be the rustle of prey. On a typical occasion he would have promptly beaten an intruder out of his clan's hunting grounds, but the obvious difference in weight met that he himself would be pummeled if he tried to attack her. But the weight difference wasn't the only reason that he abstained from attacking. The dragon that he had pounced upon had the eyes of a wind dragon. It was the first time he had met a wind dragon in his life, and he was intrigued.

After an awkward introduction and apology, Arvid and Javor talked for a few hours about their current situations. Apparently, Arvid was the wandering dragon that two of the members of his clan had tried to chase off the day before, and she was laying low to try and avoid them. Interested in Arvid's wandering lifestyle, he told her to wait in the same thicket until dawn the next day. That night, he went home to his mentor and asked her what he should do about the choice of staying with his clan or leaving. While his mentor said that she would be terribly sad to see him go, she encouraged him to leave if he felt truly compelled to see the world and maybe even his ancestral homeland, understanding that he would never be allowed back.

The next day at dawn, he left to follow Arvid on her adventures.

Arvid, though highly annoyed with Javor at first, learned to like him as he continued travelling with her. His company heightened her morale, and it was an asset to know that her back was guarded at all times. Plus, as he grew larger, he got to carry Arvid's trinket satchels on a daily basis. (He carries them full time now on Arvid's midnight scavenging adventures.)

Javor is fairly easy going, and has a "follow the leader" kind of mentality due to him growing up with a strict hierarchy. He feels fairly neutral about every clan member save for Arvid, whom he adores. Despite him being the leading male of the clan, he really prefers to go with the flow of the other dragons, taking every dragon's opinion into account before making any decisions. He grows very nervous whenever he sees Arvid and Cornelious fighting. He usually ends up breaking conflicts between the two.

Lastly, it should be noted that Javor is the main reason why Arvid settled down into a lair. He loved the traveling lifestyle, but knew that once he and Arvid wanted to have eggs, their traveling would have to cease. Even though Arvid really didn't follow this line of logic, he was able to bring her over to his side of the matter once he mentioned the ability to maintain a large hoard in a lair.
