Biography

If one of her brothers was the ugly one, and her other brother the perfect one, she was average - so average, she was overlooked. The ugly one was thrown out of the clan when the nest hatched, tossed out into the desert; the perfect one cooed over, taken away to a loving home to be pampered for the rest of his days. She wasn't ugly enough or beautiful enough to be noticed, not with her colours; and so she lay still and quiet in the straw of her nest, waiting for her turn to be picked up, to be judged.

Her turn never came.

Her parents fled the nest as soon as it hatched, for fear of being set upon by the other dragons; theirs was a warlike clan, full of aggressive mangenta dragons who tended to value might over common sense. As such, no other dragon knew that there were three eggs - after all, they were only interested in one child, the perfect one. And so, when the fuss over the golden one had died down, she was left to lie in the nest, wondering why her turn had never come.

Had she done something wrong?

She didn't think she had. Though then again, she hadn't really done anything - maybe it was her lack of doing anything good that had left her out of the judgings. And so, determined to prove her worth, she tottered from her old nest, and wandered aimlessly through the clan's nesting grounds. The nesting grounds of the clan were rarely empty, and as such there were many brightly coloured dragons here - or at least, many brightly coloured tails and talons she bumped into on her search for an exit. Several growled in their sleep, and she shrank back a little before wandering onwards, terrified for a reason she could not fathom.

Soon, it wasn't just the growls of other dragons she was worried about; her stomach growled horribly as well, spurring her on. She had never been hungry before, and she had to wonder if it was a fault. Would the other dragons judge her because her tummy was growling, even though she could not help it? She hoped not, but that was all she could do: hope. Hope was what kept her going, stumbling through the nesting grounds; hope was what gave her the extra burst of strength required to make the leap up onto the kitchen counter and raid the clan's pantry, eating as much as she dared.

It was only when she heard the roar of anger behind her, she knew that she had done something wrong, even if she didn't really know what it was. But she was still hopeful - hopeful that she could still redeem herself, make it all up later, and that is why she took wing, managing to flap and flop her way out of the lair while the kitchen staff held the head cook back - there was no point in going after a hatchling as average as that one, after all.

And so, promising to come back when she was good enough to redeem herself, she went rushing out into the hot sun, trying to find somewhere in those shifting sands a speck of life - a speck of hope she could follow...

That speck was bright blue and green in a sea of sand.
After finding her brother the day before, the messenger passed over the area on every run she went on. She caught sight of the small coatl, standing up with her wings flared for her attention and with a soothing voice and gentle demeanor, Mestra took the hatchling up, finished her route and took her home.

She was reunited with her brother and they were raised together. To serve the clan that gave them their second chance they took on the responsibility of nesting grounds caretakers.

Personality: Desperately wants to be a good girl, and has a very strong idea of what is good and what isn't, to the point where she sees things as quite black and white. Unlike her brother, she can be quite argumentative so long as she thinks she's doing the 'right' thing, and isn't afraid to speak up if she sees something happening that she'd deem as wrong. She's not the best of fighters, but she has a very strong way of arguing, and is extremely stubborn to boot.
