Altostratus is the antithesis of an anti-hero, or so she regards herself. Her arrival in the Scarred Wasteland cemented the founding of a new clan, Viral Evolution, which she served eagerly. However, when her mentee Azurite surpassed her skills, envy compelled Alto to devise an emperor-raising scheme. She intended to have it do the clan’s bidding, with herself as its sole master; however, the plan collapsed into the Wyrmwound and Altostratus was exiled.

From there, Altostratus wandered back to the Shattered Expanse to rethink her life. Here she had one wing supplemented with a prosthesis (Accent: Dancing Conductor) and distantly looked after an orphaned fae in the Golem Workshop. Much later, in the Tangled Wood, Alto had a chance meeting with Viral Evolution founder Lapilli, who relayed that the clan had collapsed shortly after Alto’s leave. Hoping to reconcile, Alto briefly lived with with Lapilli and her partner Maelstrom, and eventually parted ways again on much better terms.
