She thinks she is a tree. A crystal tree, to be accurate, that lives underground. Again. It was trickling over carefully-constructed crystalline structures. Again. Without depositing anything useful. Again. The crystal tree, stationed at the center of the cave, pulsed in anger. Strength was needed to combat this decay. And there was only one dragon who was strong enough to learn from. -- Varuni looked at the crystal tree. The crystal tree sensed her back. Light from Hypnos' mechanojets sparked in the seaside sunset. The Nocturne held out a brass tumbler from under a cabana, across a driftwood bar. "Y'wanna drink?" Alcohol is poisonous. The crystal tree shuddered ominously. "No?" The Nocturne shuddered back, letting the motion roll through all her (obscenely mobile) muscles. "More for me, then." She began chugging the liquid. Hypnos tilted his head up, successfully putting his head into his hat, and then the Imperial sighed. "Look, Varuni," the dark-purple dragon hedged, "if you do this, you won't have any more community service to do!" The Nocturne's neck-pouch fluttered as she continued gulping the liquid. "...And I can get the 'unlawful obstruction of the postal services by way of intoxication' charges dropped." Varuni looked up from her alcohol, interest thoroughly piqued. She side-eyed the crystal tree. "You do know this involves movement, right, Amazonia? As in, acknowledging you can move?" She adjusted her helmet with a single paw, straightening it up. The crystal tree jolted into movement, coiling and uncoiling. The motion snapped and unsnapped, like a penny made of glittering green/yellow diamond shattering on the floor. Giving the crystal tree an appraising once-over, the Mireflying Beach Nocturne nodded in affirmation to Hypnos. "Not half bad, for a Spiral who thinks they're a pile of rocks. I'll take her." Soon, my saplings, soon, the tree silently promised its growths back in the cave while following Varuni. Soon I will protect you. Better than any I have before. "Maybe try a little louder this time," a voice echoed down the hall. "Like, HEY!" |
