An accomplished general under the service of King Alteon the Balanced, Maximilien was poised to marry into the royal family at some point during the war against the Shade. Then, shortly after the warlord known as Sepulchure was reluctantly welcomed into the communal clan of the Kingdom of Swordhaven, he vanished. Stormed out of the clan's territory in protest of Sepulchure's acceptance. Many search parties were issued to find him, but none succeeded.

It would be nearly a year later when Maximilien, now calling himself Lionfang, would return to the clan with twelve other strange dragons in tow, and though many were happy to see their general return, those who knew him noted that he seemed... Different. He was crueler. More prone to outburst. More focused on maintaining order among the clan, even if it meant letting injustice go unanswered. Additonally, the manticore he kept as a familiar seemed to become his only accepted counsel, whispering in his ear at nearly all hours, speaking words that its master refuses to divulge. And then there's the lion pelt he refuses to remove....
