Her eyes opened slowly, blinking, disoriented. The ceiling above her was warm wood. She noticed the softness of the bed, the heaviness of a quilt. Then, nausea. “I was outside,” she thought. “Doing… something. Walking, I think? When I felt… wrong. Then dizzy… then in pain… and now?” She looked around the unfamiliar space. “I must have blacked out? Who…?” A door’s latch lifted quietly. A dragon entered. “Hello,” he said. “I hope you don’t mind. I brought you here after finding you in the woods, you seemed sick. Let me know if you need anything, and I’ll do my best to help. For now, though… may I ask your name?” She met his eyes and smiled softly. “Thank you,” she said. “And, my name is Hawk.”
