How would one describe Zaleilah?

______ Narcissistic comes to mind. So does conceited, vain, smug, arrogant, pretentious and all the other words you would use to label a dragon with no concern for anyone but herself. Even her hatchlings weren't spared her wrath. Zaleilah earned herself a home in the Mighty Lair when there was still only a handful of dragons. Carrion was hesitant, there was already a child of Plaguebringer in the lair, and she was enough of a handful. Eventually she managed to sweet talk Halcyon into letting her stay. With her home in the lair cemented, her attempt at a takeover began, and ended almost as soon as it started. While Zaleilah was larger than Carrion, she hadn't anticipated Evika's fierce loyalty to her clean leader.

Plan foiled she began work on another, opting to head out of lair to find a mate. Her travels led her to a light lair where she had 3 eggs. Xalic, the first hatched returned to the Mighty Lair with her. The second hatchling, Ivy, left to find her own home, eventually finding herself in service of Plaguebringer, which Zaleilah approved of. The third hatchling, remained with her father and without a name.

With Xalic by her side, Zaleilah started again with her takeover of the lair. This time she went to each dragon individually, trying to get them on her side. The fae were easy, full of charm Zaleilah flirted with them until they saw her side of things. The others were more of a challenge. Ever the purist, she refused to charm or touch the other dragons, so she turned to Xalic. Ever keen to please his mother, the young fae began to fill the dragons with his mothers lies. Trying to convince them of how much better life would be under her rule.

______ All was going well, with more and more dragons pledging themselves to her, until Xalic decided to have a clutch of eggs with a wildclaw. At first she was able to contain her anger. Wildclaw were a noble breed, and, as Xalic told her, it was the only way to get the Wildclaw to side with his mother. If her favourite son was able to breed with a dragon who wasn't fae without repercussions, then maybe Zaleilah wasn't all bad. The insult came when Xalic sired a second clutch. There are two breeds that Zaleilah cannot stand. Snapper and Guardian. Xalic chose a snapper to carry his second clutch of eggs. Zaleilah went ballistic. Claiming Xalic purposely betrayed her, that he was no son of hers.

Unfortunately for Zaleilah, she did this within earshot of Whisper. The large imperial lived up to his name as he hid silently in the shadows of his element with ease. Word slowly began to spread around the lair that Zaleilah wasn't as great as Xalic had previously declared. With her reputation on the downward spiral, Zaleilah began to panic. She knew that in order to win back her followers she had to have a clutch with a dragon who wasn't fae, but no matter how she tried to reason with herself, she couldn't do it.

Eventually Shandor found her. Pure fae with a wingspan almost as large as her own, he managed to win her heart and convince her to lay low. He was hatched in the Mighty Lair the day before Zaleilah arrived and was close to Carrion. He promised her that over time the two of them would claim the lair for their own, that Xalic and Carrion would pay for what they had put poor Zaleilah through.
