Origin story found here. Charizard was one of the first to join the clan, back in the day when Wildclaws were scarce and the clan still lived in a tiny cave in the Crystalpine Reaches. He was quite a mischievous runt back then, full of chaos and rebellion that gave everyone a run for their money. He joined the clan as a little thief that hardly spoke a word, but much has changed since those early days. Through the companionship of others, he has grown into a rather mature and steadfast adult, those he still has some mischief in his veins. Although he has always gone by he/him pronouns, Charizard acknowledges that he doesn't necessarily feel like a male gender. He's thus identified as non-binary for a long time, though he doesn't mind if others perceive him as cisgender male. Relationships: His first real bond with anyone was with his familiar. There were very few familiars in the clan when he joined, so he found himself trailing an equally mischievous Strangler. They went on many adventures and attempted escapes together, and thus bonded quite strongly. Even as more familiars became available, Charizard could never imagine bonding with another. His Strangler was there with him when he was so small and lost; their bond meant more to him than most. His first real dragon companion was Moonchild, a Lightning Pearlcatcher. With her intuitive/telepathic abilities, she could reach out to him and understand him better than others could, back when he was almost entirely mute (due to an apparently slow start). As he grew, he became more confident with communication and expressing himself, but that would've never been possible without Moonchild's gentle support and encouraging. Because of her faith in him and love, he became very protective of her. It's because of this that he initially was very wary and suspicious of Rio, a Plague Pearlcatcher. He was concerned that he was a threat and kept watchful eyes on him. However, over time the three became quite close friends. Although it's been a long time since then, Charizard still trusts Rio and Moonchild wholeheartedly and makes time to spend with both of them. Charizard first took on a mate called Daphne, a Wind Wildclaw. He really loved her and they spent their early adulthood together, taking on the clan as it morphed and expanded. But eventually, she decided to do what a couple other early clan-members had also chosen--to leave and serve the Arcanist. He was happy for her that she felt so determined to follow such a path, but her departure weighed heavily on him. He worried that beyond his good friends, he'd never find someone who really would understand him and want a life beside him. And then when he least expected it, Tyrannia joined the clan. An Earth Wildclaw with a penchant for scavenging, he couldn't believe how many similarities they shared! Almost immediately they were acting like best friends, running around causing mischief and going on spontaneous adventures! She was like his childhood friend he never knew! They considered each other mates quite early on and they've been close ever since. He used to be wary of her best friend, Wraith, who was once a Plague Wildclaw and was quite devious. But since she's become a Gaoler, she's calmed down a bit. Plus, he's always tried to be supportive since he knows he isn't exactly the most righteous dragon in the clan. Towards the end of 2019, something unexpected happened: Charizard received a letter from his mother! He hadn't heard from any of his family since he left his clan as such a young hatchling, and he never expected he'd get a chance to reconnect with any one of them again. Her letter brought tears to his eyes as he read it aloud to his mate. Along with the letter was a Firefly gene which he had been patiently waiting for. Fully gened alongside his mate, they finally decided to lay a nest together--something they'd been putting off until they were both ready. Their son, Moab, was born. He expressed early on that he intended to leave the clan when he was old enough, but they compromised by not allowing him to leave unless he could find a clan that would ally with theirs. He agreed, and eventually he left to join the Sorienth Paranormal Research Institute in the Plague territory, which then allied with his clan. Role/Trade: Charizard has a rather unique role in the clan. Unlike most dragons who have a definitive trade, what he has is more of a regular job than anything. Since he was old enough, he has been accompanying Topaz, a vicious Ice Mirror and the clan's "Spy", to the Marketplace. Alongside her, he has kept a merchant/professional relationship with Crim, Pinkerton, Swipp, and later Tomo and Fiona. No one really knows why the two of them were initially the ones sent to go, but they've been going ever since. It's a rather odd partnership considering that he and Topaz have almost nothing else in common except the length of time they've both belonged to the clan, and perhaps that they both were trained in the same class by Terra long ago. Whatever the case, they go to the Marketplace together daily to do the dealings with the various merchant dragons there. His tendency to take weird or pointless objects from Pinkerton's pile often irritates Topaz, as well as his trend of getting convinced to hand over things to Crim. So most of his and the Mirror's relationship is him being scolded or her growling/mumbling as she pushes him out of the way and takes the lead. Yet somehow they've kept a successfully working relationship all these years. They don't spend any time with each other outside of this either.
