The history, setting and story of al-Wahatan takes inspiration from my experiences growing up in the Middle East as a kid from blended cultures! Some things (Food, architecture, society) are taken directly from what I saw and who I was around growing up, while other things (Holocene) are here for drama.

Summary

---

The Oasis storyline primarily takes place in al-Wahatan: A middle-of-nowhere Middle East inspired village somewhere out in the Charged Barrens.

Due to the high concentration of Lightning magic and electricity in the area, a certain businessdragon called Niel found it to be the perfect location for his factory. Niel is an inventor of sorts, known for creating an advanced AI that he plans to sell as a lair assistant. The AI model is put into the bodies of dragon-like robots, "Drakobots", created to maintain and protect lairs.

Things go wrong at Holocene as the Drakobots somehow gain sentience. No one is sure how this has happened, especially since Niel perfected their program himself. There should be no way for Drakobots to go against orders or perform tasks that weren't assigned to them by a dragon, and yet here we are.

Tension grows between Holocene and al-Wahatan.
Niel had not checked the surrounding area before starting construction on his factory, nor was he informed by any of his architects or partners about the location. All he knew was that it would be ideal for his factory to be in the midst of a constant energy supply like the Charged Barrens. No one knew that al-Wahatan was nearby. In fact, nobody had ever even heard of the place!

By the time Niel realized how close he was to the clan, it was too late to cancel or relocate the project. Ever since then, he's been trying to get on the clan's good side, mainly through striking deals. The village, however, has not been cooperative.

They were wary when construction started, but were open to the idea of a neighboring business so long as it didn't interfere with their day-to-day. Their opinion changed quickly when Niel began constantly bothering the council. They became even more upset when the factory's presence disrupted the local flora and fauna, changing the routes and schedules of the clan's hunters and gatherers.

As the relationship between the factory and the village worsens, and more and more robots "go missing" each day, the situation becomes unbearable. Niel is called into the Council Room by al-Wahatan leadership. Bringing along his Leading Engineer and Second-in-Command, they find themselves in a heated case against the village. The Oasis no longer wants the disruptive factory in their midst, and Niel now has to seriously fight to keep his failing business going.

The setup of my lair depicts a static scene of where the story "ends" on a sort of cliffhanger.
Niel and a few of his employees have found themselves in the Council Room with the authority figures of al-Wahatan, as well as villagers serving as witnesses to Holocene's misdeeds.
