The residents of the Sunbeam Ruins are usually not a chatty lot; most prefer the company of books, and bonds are forged out of intellectual respect as often as they are out of friendship or love. Even with that considered, however, Nymstryx is quite the introvert; while one can often spot his lair-mates cheerfully hanging out under the Sun, he is usually found chasing fireflies alone or scaling lair walls, or otherwise floating aloofly by Toxicity, his confidante within the clan.

With green and white coloring, Nymstryx could easily have been mistaken for a wind or nature dragon. His crimson eyes have always been keen, however, and although he now prefers forest rogue attire, he still uses bloody wing bandages to help him remember his homeland. Since both of his siblings had been pearlcatchers like his mother and his father had left home to serve the Gladekeeper when Nymstryx was still very young, Nymstryx had always felt isolated and left-out. He constantly wondered if his family truly cared about him, if he could find a deity to serve under, and if he would ever meet his father again. It didn't help that his hobbies were not very typical for a plague dragon; while he understood and respected the principles of contagion, he was far more interested in disease as an art than as a practice. After all, how could he continue to chase fireflies if all of them had died out?

As he grew older, Nymstryx yearned for approval, but yet felt that he would likely never have it the way he wanted if he stayed at home. He desired to study in the Sunbeam Ruins, a place where he could remain an introvert while continuing to dedicate himself to the study of plague, but yet hesitated at the thought of having to start his life all over again in a foreign environment. Would they find his intellect lacking? Would he get too homesick? What if he lost interest in his field of study? He prayed to the Plaguebringer for a friend, someone who would understand; surely, she would see and award his sincerity.

The friend came in the form of Toxicity, a light dragon all clad in venom rogue garb. She had seen some of the work Nymstryx had done and wished to correspond with him. At first Nymstryx was wary; she had not been born a plague dragon, and by the time they met, she was already very well-connected and fairly well-known. Toxicity didn't need him in the same way that he needed her, and he didn't want to risk his feelings. But soon Toxicity's sincerity shone through; she passed on much of his work to the scholars in the Light Domain, where they received high praise. She tried to persuade him to move into her lair. He wouldn't need to see it as a binding commitment, she said. She had his best interest at heart - and so did all of her lair-mates. Dragons came and went in the Sunbeam Ruins all the time. Perhaps he would be able to make new friends?

Eventually Nymstryx agreed; he was growing attached to her, and wanted to meet the dragon behind the words. They finally met at the Forum of the Obscured Crescent, halfway between his home and hers; a greeting, a smile, a quiet touching of the wings, and the two were on their way.
