The Princeling
Disdainful, Exasperated, Orderly
Put that away!
Not sure how to deal with
the wheezing Coatl, you decide to go in the direction that he pointed you in to find help. It is just around the corner that you come across a disgruntled looking Coatl muttering angrily to himself.
"--damned featherbrain is at it again," the violently pink dragon mutters to himself, not aware of your presence in the lair. "I can feel it--" He breaks off suddenly when he spots you standing there and pulls his garishly pink coat tighter around his shoulders. "Did you at least wipe your claws on the welcome reeds before coming in?"
You don't remember seeing any welcome reeds at all, but before you can tell him so, Xin has already brushed you aside. "Don't touch anything," he warns you, shaking a feathered wing at you. A few feathers flutter lifelessly to the floor, prompting Xin to hastily scoop them up with his tail.
As if following an ingrained routine, Xin begins to preen. First he runs his tail over his wings, dislodging any lackluster feathers still hanging by a thread before giving himself a little shake, little pink poofs of feather and fur flying off him with every motion. You stand there a little awkwardly, unsure of what to say as Xin begins to clean up the mess he's made in the lair.
All of a sudden, the Coatl becomes aware of your existence, and from the way he violently recoils, you assume that he hadn't been expecting you. "What are you doing!" he screeches, tail lashing in agitation, "Go find something to do!
Go away!"
Almost immediately after the words leave his mouth, badly mangled by the humming Coatl accent that seems to emerge out of extreme emotional circumstances, Xin just sort of... deflates. "
Go on," he says, but without much conviction.
You hesitate for a moment, watching him self-consciously plucking feathers off the ground, before you make up your mind and head in another direction.
