Rudanis
The Volcano

At first glance the massive guardian with patterns like living fire rippling across his hide is a terrifying sight. Certainly those who've been unfortunate enough to face him across the wrong side of a battlefield would agree. The largest member of the Forge Warden clan, he towers head and shoulders above the rest, dominating the front lines, while his bellowing roar is loud and deep enough to shake the bones of his enemies. In battle, he stands as a solid and immovable shield, stopping enemy advances in their tracks and protecting his kin. One sweep of his massive tail is enough to send smaller foes tumbling, and when he stands guard over an injured or fallen clanmate, it's a guarantee that no enemy will be able to touch them.

However, the Rudanis the rest of the clan knows is not nearly as fearsome and intimidating as all of that. In private, the massive outside hides a gentle soul. He is sweet, even shy, preferring to yield to others rather than start any sort of conflict with his clanmates. He even prefers to keep out of arguments and heated debates, hating the thought of raised voices and hurt feelings. He shares what he has willingly with those who ask. His Charge is the clan's hatchlings, no matter whether they were born there or adopted into their ranks, and he wouldn't hesitate to share his last bite of food with any of them, or to defend them from the most dangerous threat. He spends much of his time in the clan's hatchery alongside Yenirah, tending to them and playing with them. They think the giant guardian is a wonderful playmate and playground all in one, climbing all over him, and leaping off his head to test their wings, confident that he would never let them tumble and be hurt. Rudanis' mate is Ximena, but as she spends most of her time traveling in search of her own Charge and purpose, he sees her rarely.
