It was difficult living like a phantom. Orchid knew that it was his fault–he should have never toyed with powers beyond his control–but that would never dull the pain. As if he wasn’t there his friends and family searched desperately for him, but he had simply vanished. He watched them eventually despair, grow numb, and hold his funeral, finally forgetting about him, when he was there all along, unable to interact with the world around him. If this was what ‘immortality’ was, then he regretted ever wanting it.
