When the Pillar shattered at the end of the Third Age, the explosion of magical energy birthed sentient life among the stars—beings now known as Novamancers. Feeding on the magical radiation released by Sornieth’s flourishing elements, these cosmic entities grew capable of thought and emotion, forming bonds within their colonies. But the cold hollow of space is no sanctuary for such fragile existence. The remnants of the Shade still haunt the stars, seeking to devour the Novamancers’ very essence. To escape this constant threat, they sought refuge on Sornieth, using the energy from powerful magical storms to assume physical forms so they could blend into dragon society. Researchers soon noticed these dragons with astral appearances and strange behavior, founding initiatives to study their origins. This research culminated in the Nouveaumancer Project, a relocation effort operated by Novamancers themselves, designed to expedite the life transition for their fellow brethren. Refugees who participate in this program are welcomed into the lairs of their sponsors, where they can acclimate to their new surroundings and begin to unravel the possibilities of the futures that lie ahead. |
