They all looked at Arsites as thunder cracked in the near distance. “Me? Again?!” Arsites exclaimed, as he looked around, betrayed. The other dragons looked abashed, but hey, there aren’t many dragons that are immune to being struck by lightning. He groaned, but there was no other choice.

Shortly, Arsites–now covered in metal armor–flew arduously to the highest point above the dens. The storm was coming. He saw the dragons down below begin to take cover, and though he grimaced and braced himself for the pain, he couldn’t blame them. When the storms had gotten so bad that their lightning rods were destroyed every storm and electrical fires were common, they had been terrified that Arsites had been hit by lightning twenty times and survived–he seemed to function as a natural, invincible lightning rod. For his part, Arsites hated it. “Why why why why? Why in the world can I be hit by freaking lightning and be fine? Why can’t those darn lightning rods just work!?” But, out of the greater of two evils, a bit of pain and a head of static feathers was

much preferable to dead dragons. He couldn’t help but wonder, however, if the storms were getting worse because of him. It wasn’t natural, and he was sure the Stormcatcher would agree.
