a sharp mind; a stubborn nature; an independent spirit; auster is a skilled wielder of lightning's magic and speed. she is a rider of storms, at her best in the wet and windy and wild grey skies. Hard sheets of driving rain and the tempestuous gusts and cracks and peals of thunder are her joy. even when grounded the air around her smells of ozone and dampness.
auster travels the skies far and wide with her storm seeker familiar in search of wild winds and tumultuous clouds, far from shadow territory. this makes her one of the carillon clan's most valuable scavengers. when not riding a storm, she often sifts through the wreckage they've brought, snagging any interesting knicknacks or unguarded treasures she finds. it doesn't bother her too much that these items might still have owners who claim them. even when visiting other clans in her wanderings, she considers anything that can be grabbed without notice or fuss hers for the taking. her prizes are usually sold to the curiosity shop or given to squall, who plays with them in his icy caravan until he finds a way to use them in a new invention. |

topaz, her familiar, is an even more brazen thief than she is. the little storm seeker uses its size and thriftiness to swoop up shinies and make off with them. the two are an inseparable pair who met early in auster's life. a flock of storm seekers attacked the lone nocturne when the two parties met on the same stormy winds. auster's nocturne instincts took over, and she began to mimic the flock's flight patterns and met crackling bolt of electricity point for point. in a charged moment, topaz and auster's lightning bolts connected, giving each other quite the shock and a strange sense of connection. as the fight settled out, topaz seemed to decide that auster was her new flock.
