Clan Morganite was founded by a lone Skydancer deep within the Crystalpine reaches. Devoted to the Arcanist, they became prosperous under his blessing making money by guiding others through the land when hired. The idea of a safe haven amidst the hazy, thrumming world of the Starfall Isle was very appealing however, and after one too many travelling dragons stayed, the founder decided to hand the rapidly-expanding clan over to a young Coatl named Peony, specially recruited and trained for the job.

Under Peony and master Explorer Tourmaline the clan grew into a wealthy hub of explorers, whose initial knowledge of guide-work combined with their growing bank of information of the other regions resulted in the clan mass-producing and printing maps of previously undiscovered or treacherous areas. A single dragon was appointed to each element's homeland, and so, their network continued to grow, leaving them comfortably rich - and still attracting new members. However, they remained neutral and pacifistic, loyal only to the Arcanist.

Things changed when Peony realised that over the Summer months the heat combined with the sickly Arcane magic might actually pose a threat to some of the cooler-blooded dragons in the clan, and they decided to migrate to the Southern Icefield for the Summer months. This was the first time cracks began appearing in the previously perfect clan. They maintained a vast territory underground near the Fortress of the Ends, and as such, the call of the Icewarden was dangerously close. One night, many of the clan's Ice dragons simply got up and left, unable to resist their destiny any longer; scared by their disappearance, other dragons left simply to live somewhere safer. After this, the clan's growth dipped and stagnated, leaving it at sixty-five dragons, where previously there had been almost a hundred.

In addition, a scandal arose when one dragon broke the peace rule and murdered one of her apprentices for fear of the latter overtaking her in skill. It led to unrest and doubt being planted regarding their leader's efficiency.

As the Summer months drew to a close, the Arcanist invited the clan to take up residence in the Observatory itself due to their vast collection of knowledge, that still grows to this day. The preparations for the move brought the bubbling tensions to boil due to the stress and anxiety of trekking back across the Icefields, and scheming strategist Morgana, who had always opposed the restrictions of lawful ethics, pitted herself against Peony as a leadership candidate. Even after they took up residence in that great Observatory, the two are locked in a cold civil war, silently threatening each other and dividing the clan in half: the lawful versus the chaotic. There is still no indication who will win, but as long as the clan still makes money, no-one dares launch into full-out violence.
