The Shadowbinder stood atop a hill, staring across a seemingly empty expanse ringed with dark and twisting trees. A small spiral floated next to him, wound around one of the branches of the twisting trees.
“Any news?” the spiral hissed through pointed teeth.
“They’ve stopped searching for you. Your people are safe; for now, at least,” the Shadowbinder rumbled, flapping her wings. The spiral let out a hoarse chuckle.
“Excellent,” he giggled, “my town is safe at last.” Upon further inspection it is clear that the space the diety and the spiral were looking over rippled in the gray-ish sunlight of the Driftwood Drag. The spiral blinked, and the illusion fell.

There stood a rickety town with brambles surrounding it, denying entry or the ability to leave. Dripping shadowy substance, similar to the goo that dripped from the Shadowbinder’s eyes and moth, drenched the branches of the brambles and formed a moat around the village. Various strange and powerful looking dragons walked and flew around the stone buildings, tending to their daily life. Many looked pleased, like there was nothing more they wanted, but many more walked with bowed heads and shame instead of pride and power. Some also had the shadowy goo falling from their nose and mouths yet they weren’t shadow dragons; it looked as if the goo was infecting them and turning them into something they weren’t.
One dragon, waves churning inside his eyes, lifted his head and stared straight into the spiral’s soul. His stormy eyes resembled the sea before it took a ship. His bluish-green wings flapped defiantly, and he turned away from the hill that the spiral and Shadowbinder stood atop to continue speaking with a light primal who had golden orbs of pure magic floating about him. The collection of dragon’s inside the spiral’s mirage of a town was definitely strange. Most of them shouldn’t usually be seen together, but just by looking at them in their despair it is obvious they all suffered similar tragedies.
“Shatter, I will continue poisoning the brambles as you requested if you keep exalting me dragons now and then. However, before we continue this deal, I need you to be absolutely certain this is what you want to do with your life; are you sure you want to trick others into following your leadership under your idea of a perfect society?” Shadowbinder rumbled, gazing into the spiral’s beady eyes. Those flaming ruby eyes on Shatter’s face were unblinking and remorseless as she nodded her small head, one sharp and shiny tooth sticking out over her thin lips. She had a raspy yet high voice and she let out a chuckle that would make the strongest guardian cringe in disgust.
“Oh, Shadowbinder, I think you underestimate my legacy. Soon, all of Sornieth will want to join my perfect and sheltered town and they won’t be able to leave once they do; even if they wanted to, which they wouldn’t.” He let out a cocky giggle. “We will just keep expanding and expanding as we steal from the ones who hurt my people. We’ll take more water dragons from the Tidelord to avenge Setis, and we’ll get even more for True to use as puppets in his studies!” Shatter was referring to the two primal dragons from earlier, who could hear her conversation on the hill. They both looked up and then back at each other warily. The Shadowbinder looked at the hysterical Shatter with disdain. Was she willing to go against the other deities to help this idiot spiral and her fantasy?
Turning away from the village, she hunched down and spread her battered wings, ready to fly. She turned back to the spiral one more time, who still had a psychopathic smile on her face. She shook her head and sighed, goop falling on the ground as she took flight away from Shatter’s monstrosity of a village.
