A forgotten god. A sunken city. A land where secrets are more precious than gold...

On the border of the Shifting Expanse and the Sunbeam Ruins hunkers the Langstroth Pit: a vast, ancient quarry that spirals down into the earth for hundreds of miles. Dug to a scale that dwarfs even the largest Imperials, the Pit was abandoned thousands of years ago, its original purpose lost to time.

Most would assume that Langstroth’s glory days are far behind it, but the dragons strong enough- or desperate enough- to make a life there know that it still has much to offer. For archeologists, it is a veritable treasure trove of First Age artifacts. For criminals, it is a haven from Lightweaver’s prying eyes and Stormcatcher’s clutching claws. For all the rest, it is home: a cruel, confusing home, but one where a true friend is worth far more than any god’s approval.

Life on the edges of the Pit is harsh. The swirling vortex of air currents emanating from the sinkhole can (and does) pull fliers right out of the sky, and the steep walls are prone to rockslides that can smother smaller dragons in a matter of seconds. Intrepid explorers who seek to map the vast network of caverns riddling the quarry return confused, telling tales of rivers of molten gold, soldiers encased in stone, and dancing lights in the dark- if they return at all.

There are rumors of an ancient city sunken deep in Langstroth’s center, but foolhardy dragons who boast too loudly about pillaging these ruins often find themselves skipping town in a hurry… or their lifeless bodies are dredged up from the bottom of Langstroth Lake months later, mouths and eyes sealed in amber-colored wax. Those who probe too deeply into the Pit’s mysteries often become a part of them.

Dig down into the rich, sweet-smelling earth, and you’ll find a carpet of bones, dragon and animal jumbled together and strewn in ever-widening circles. Dig deeper and there is gold, but gold is worthless compared to what waits in the restless heart of the Pit.

It is said that if you listen hard enough, the lost god of Langstroth will guide you...
